Reduce HbA1c in 3 months

My sister reduced her HbA1c levels from 8.3% to 7.8% in the last 3 months. She is working around keeping their blood sugar and HbA1c levels under control. She used to love eating rice, and now she doesn’t eat rice at all. Working on doing yoga/exercise daily. Goes for a walk every day. And she monitors her readings 3 to 4 times a day. So she improves the hbA1c through changes in lifestyle.

good going..even I am trying to maintain my HBa1c to 6 and working out on my diet and exercise..but i surely use CGM to keep a track on my sugars which helps me even track my activity. I use freestyle libre sensor with blucon.

That's sounds good. One of the reasons why A1c levels are important is because it gives a clear knowledge of how your lifestyle changes are affecting your health. I prefer a glucose meter handy to make sure you can test your sugar levels anytime anywhere.

I personally feel sometimes HBa1c also doesnt give a clear picture so I feel the best thing is to be on a CGM and that gives you a very clear picture of 24 hours how your sugars have been. A1c's can be misleading in certain conditions like if someone has low Hb or any Hb related problem..I take both in picture , readings and a1c. I get both in my blucon CGM estimated A1c and every 5 minutes readings update.

Wow. That's great. Can you share the diet? What do you eat for breakfast lunch and dinner?

Research has shown that people with type 2 diabetes who reduce their HbA1c level by 1% are 19% likely to suffer cataracts, 16% less likely to suffer heart failure and 43% less likely to suffer amputation or death due to peripheral vascular disease.

Do you mean less likely to suffer cataracts? I'm sure you did but just checking. Martin.
