Hello!

I'm new on these forums, and new to being pre-diabetic. Type 2 runs in my family. I'm a foodie, and so for me this is not a surprise that I have come this close. I just have indulged far too much and have been far too lazy.

Any advice at all is welcome. ♡

Have you talked with your doctor about a low carb high protein diet plan? Do you count carbs. for your meals and snacks?

at least you have a heads up and hopfully can head it off. it can be hard cutting back on foods we love but moderation in all things . i hope it goes well for you.

Hi Web

I have had Type 2 for about 30 years but was only referred on a 15 hour Xpert diabetes course in the last couple of months. I don’t know if you live in the UK but if you do you could perhaps ask your GP to refer you on this course! The book we used on this course was Handbook X-PERT Diabetes - XP00011. This is not a recommendation per se it’s just the book we were given. You can buy it online even if you don’t go on course - I saw it at £9.99. If in UK it’s a free course and you get the book as well😁👍

Hi, just read your post and I hope all is well I'ma a foodie and make a living by baking bread and cakes, and obviously eating them! ... When I was diagnosed at the end of last October I quit cold turkey all grains and sugar - (some call it lazy keto, or low carbs-healthy fats , moderate protein) - in 3 months my A1C went from 56 to 37. Oh, and I'm 20 kg lighter too :)
