For the past few days, I’ve been having really bad hot flashes. I have been having an issue with sweating. I’m only 23 years of age and have type 2 diabetes that is controlled by taking metformin slow release.

Am I menopausal?
What are your blood sugars? Sometimes, a person can feel warm because the blood sugars are high and/or low. Have you talked with your doctor about the issue?
Welcome Gemgem. Sorry to hear. Make sure you are hydrated. Do you do a bit of exercise? Good luck.
suggest that you speak to your GP - you shouldn't be menopausal at 23 - so if there are other things going on - such as irregularity in your periods it would be best to get it checked out.
metformin can interfere with how you uptake B12 from your food so it may be worth getting tested for B12 deficiency - though I don't associate B12 deficiency with hot flashes, which do sound more likely to be hormonally related.
Ask your GP about checking thyroid function
I have worked with 3 different Endocrinologist and all 3 have expressed that Metformin is the best Type 2 diabetes medicine there is. The main issue I have is it can have a negative impact on Neuropathy which I have, because it drains the body of B12. I also have to take additional medication besides Metformin to control my blood sugar readings. Quite frankly, I would suggest setting down with your doctor and have a complete conversation about what he is recommending along with other medications you are taking and come up a clear and precise process that will help you.
