Hi Djrosie ,

Welcome to the group. Please feel free to continue posting postings and comments, commenting on the postings of other members, taking the polls, attending the Monthly Meetings, asking questions and of course, meet the other members of the group.

Have you talked to your doctor about the juicing diet? If you haven't, please check to make an appointment before you start anything new. Do you count carbs for each meal and snack?

Have you looked at the carbs of what you are juicing ? That's the key to it. An orange is prob about 10-12 grams, grapes are high. Have a look what are low carbs.

Better to replace meals with fresh fruit rather than juice. Soup is good.

Zero carbs is more effective so less consumption better try fasting, cold press virgin coconut oil to increase metabolism... trick the body .... try yoga also

I have slowly worked to juicing twice a day - it is a great detox for my system. I have slowly dropped weight supplementing with water, nuts for good fats and only lunch as the imaginative meal of the day. I discussed this with my Dr prior and have improved my blood readings and use less insulin. The other day I weighed 83kg/182.6 lbs/13.04 st with BMI 26.8! Very pleased as I started from 91kg/200.2/14.3 st with BMI 30. I am doing this gradually and with healthy eating along with some dancing, aerobics, Zumba-gold, circuits training and walking a six day paper round for 4 miles round trip this has been as gradual as perhaps weight watchers within a two year period. It is trickling down gently but surprising at some instances. I allow a day a week for change in diet such as going out etc, so that it is not too strict, but have stuck with it as normal and comfortable. I call it my "green sludge drink", but it has ingredients I like in it so its easy to go down in the morning and evenings. This is an example of studying nutrition and consulting with professionals. I have not set a goal except that I am able to wear my military uniform at special events - and its the one I left the service with! Anything else has been a bonus. A caution though, when we are reducing weight, sometimes it can be too much for our metabolism and in some cases, it is possible to compromise the immune system - which can be a danger and why we should involve our medical professionals in such a process. We all want to be healthy as much as possible, but safe in the process. Best wishes and hope you combine what I said as well as the others in your quest for great health. May this be an example of "good juicing."

Hi DJrosie, on the Desmond diabetes type 2 education course I have just complete it was indicated that juicing is not so good as it is processed food which tends to raise blood glucose more quickly than if you eat whole fruit or raw vegetables for instance, which will contain more fibre and the body takes longer to process which means the blood glucose levels do not spike as they might with juicing and smoothies for instance. At least that is how I understood it.

I love carrott, celery and ginger juiced. And I used to have leafy green vegetable and fruit smoothies I made myself, but now its very occasionally only.
