Diagnosis

After over 10 years of being told I was type 2, I just been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Any information or help would be appreciated. Also, I have this lump on my head which won't heal. Saw my GP today who has referred me to a dermatologist. I know it's difficult, but does anyone have any idea what it could be? It's been there for over 2 months. Thanks for any help.

sounds like you have been diagnosed with LADA

This is link to some info on it

diabetes.co.uk/diabetes_lad...

you can also see that there are a number of other different variants - much more complex than just type1 and type2

Sorry - can't advise on the lump

When you say you have been diagnosed Type 1 after being Type 2 for 10 years, is it a full diagnosis or have you just been put onto insulin, because that can be type 2 as well. Whichever type it is, I'd suggest having a look at the diabetes.org.uk website which has lots of useful information and support. Also, talk to your diabetic team, they should be explaining it properly to you so that you don't have any concerns.

Sorry don't know about the lump on your head but hope the dermatologist can sort it.

I would like to say a T1 pancreas does NOT work, but a T2 may work 60% of the time. So, go to see your Dr before you say much. Good luck!

I was misdiagnosed so I understand your frustration. I was told I was T2 but then found to be LADA or T1.5. Since you are already on insulin you and your diabetes team should be able to deal with this quite easily. I hope it all works out well for you. :)

Was there anything specific you wanted information on? Do ask about anything at all. That's what the forums are for.

Good luck. :)
