Diabetics and eggs: Can anybody suggest... - Diabetes India
Diabetics and eggs
There has been many studies done on Hemans eating eggs. Internet has a lot of information also this site. A balance diet is healthy. You need to watch out for free and hidden sugar in food and drinks.
The American Diabetes Association (ADA) state that eggs are a suitable food for people with diabetes. Having a low glycemic index score means that they have less of an effect on a person's blood sugar levels. People may be concerned about the cholesterol content in eggs.
Eggs still shouldn't be consumed in excess if you have diabetes. ... One large egg has about 186 mg of cholesterol. There isn't much room for other dietary cholesterol once that egg is eaten. Research suggests that high levels of egg consumption may raise the risk of developing type 2 diabetes and heart disease.
But in the U.S., guidelines recommend cholesterol be limited to less than 300 milligrams per day for healthy people -- and one egg has about 200 milligrams of cholesterol. Those guidelines also suggest that people with type 2 stick to less than four eggs per week.
Eggs are pretty healthy in moderation. say 2 eggs a day.
The liver and pancreas are the seat of your metabolism. Often T2D is characterised by fatty liver and fat around the organs. Fatty liver is caused by excessive carbs especially refined flour and sweet food and excess of fruit juice without fibre. if one has to reverse diabetes then one must go in for a pure veg low carb diet with good fat like olive oil, coconut oil. Even while following a veg diet 02 x breakfast eggs are no problem at all. The myth that it will raise cholestrol is unfounded.
Thanks for nice guidance and opinions of learned friends.
you can afford to stay with safer alternatives than eggs.
FBs andPPS should be the guiding factor and not HBA1c for your immediate sugar control
Eating eggs is good or bad depends on eating eggs ......plus what?
Reducing carbs as far as possible while adding eggs into diets resulted in a very favorable readings.
if you enjoy eating egg it is ok butdont advocate it fordiabetics with safer better alternatives
'Diabetic' becomes an issue only once the Carbs-Sucrose- Glucose conversion process is derailed owing to insulin becoming ineffective or deficient. Egg come into the scene only because …it substitutes the foundation- Carbs here.

Looking for enjoyable food is ‘Gone with the Wind’ from the time we become Type 1 or 2!
I agree anything in coronation? Something's wrong with this conversation.
Dear Kamtadale I am also suffering from Diabetes . But I have found eggs are best source of food for a diabetic person. because it has zero carbs. Avoid bread and other cereals along with. You can take only one piece of bread.
Thanks sir for your guidance
Egg is a food for the chickand hence rich in protein and fat. For it's growing needs
. Not for an adult and much less for adyslipidemic diabetic. With unsafe levels of fat and cholesterol
If egg is food for chicks only, people should eat grown ups i.e hens and roosters only
agree with your observations
sorry.ingested natural fat also even in normal proportions are not efficiently handled in diabetics and hence the tendency to have abnormal lipid profiles despite normal diets.
