A good article on Keto for type 2 which was posted in LCHF community.

It is a very interesting read for those who have a lot of suspicion on Keto diet!

Hi, great going. Very nice article!

I came across this thought-provoking article in a journal while doing some research for my next post for my blog:

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/208...

It raises a question abt viability of ketones, however, every individual responds differently to a particular diet.

I would like to know members'opinion on this article.

Very interesting read.

The last comment:

" Lastly, our findings may explain why diabetic patients have an increased incidence of cancer, due to increased ketone production, and a tendency towards autophagy/mitophagy in their adipose tissue."

The report does not specify the type of cancer but members have to be clear on this message!

Dear Vinn1

Food & Nutrition is a vast subject and Internet is full of information which at times contradicts each other!

So much so , any kind of article one wants to get and in whatever way one intends to get, he/ she would be able to get one if one keeps on surfing ! 😀

Having said that ,one needs to have adequate knowledge on the subject to decipher it.

While looking at articles/ Studies , one needs to see if it is a Large RCT or RCT's or Peer review or it is just an artcle based upon a case study in isolation in a particular country/ or trials conducted in multiple countries or regions or it is just a research paper or an article based upon basic science and logic?

Who has sponsored the study and if there is any interested party involved?

Having said that, one should be practical and one must tryout and find out what kind of food suits him/ her in a particular Health condition ! How one's body reacts to a particular dietary pattern- what Lab parameters are indicating ? Then how does one's GI tract responds to a particular food- for example different people have different issues : Acidity, Gastrites, irregular Bowl movement / constipation, stomach discomfort etc. Whether he/ she gets sound sleep at night ! All this matters!

Some people are lactose intolerant , so they can not take Dairy products life long, some people can not tolerate Gluten - so they avoid wheat, Rye, barley etc life long.. some people are allergic to peanuts and some are allergic to eggs.... and these people avoid these food life long.

Similarly, diabetic conditions arise due to difficulties in Carbs metabolism.. so such a person should avoid Carbs as much as one can... T2 is not a disease ! It is a life style disorder- especially we took too much carbs 60-70% calories from Carbs.....for decades and decades.... We never got time to exercise - 9 to 5 desk job-. We got stressed at work- and addicted to worry , anger , Jeolous apart from other addictions by some people ... Drinking , smoking ... Etc etc.

Since Diabetic is not a disease , it can not be cured by medicine. You Change your life style , your food habits .. you can control or even reverse your conditions.

May be some academics can give you suitable opinions on such technical article, not even article just the abstract of the article.

Sure.

Low carb dietary approach has been most effective for T2D and it has been used even 100 years ago. It is shame that many are still questioning this approach. But that is okay, there will always be some people who will oppose such approach because dietary fat has been demonised for such a long time.

in reply toPraveen55

I have seen some articles on different fats within saturated fats.

I need to look into that one.

If you locate the saturated fat and other fats article , request if you could let me also have it!

in reply tonamaha

The only one I have so far located is just a general article i.e. non-research/non-academic journal article.

healthline.com/nutrition/sa...

By the way, the way you are, enthusiastic towards new understanding/community-orientated/care for others, a huge factor for longevity!

Dear Autumnsonnet

Thanks. Had seen this article before!

My further assessment is that

MCFA and SCFA does not take part in Triglyceride formation.. perhaps it is only LCFA ( long chain fatty acid ) only contributes to Triglyceride formation .

Was looking for some scientific studies on Triglyceride based on (1) SFA- LCFA (2) MUFA (3) PUFA. It is very interesting since body would like to store SFA/ MUFA based Triglyceride in Adipose tissue rather than PUFA.

The link takes to a report with head line:

"High blood sugar may increase the risk of pancreatic cancer"

The question is do every member think there is a link between type 2 and cancer?

Hi Hidden , please don't make personal comments as it's not fair on Praveen55 Sometimes we have to agree to disagree and respect one another's point of view based on each others needs and what works for the individual.

I'm pleased to see that you both have respect for one another as I think that you are both valuable members and we as admin very much appreciate your input to the group.

And I want to thank you both for not letting this escalate.

Thank you.

Jerry.
