Hi..our fasting month is over now and I mentioned during Ramadan how Im not able to fast cos of my diabetes. But my sister who has only recently been diagnosed with diabetes managed to keep all her fasts.with no hypos. We're all so surprise.she asks me about carbs and insulin. I take a certain amount of insulin for certain meals but she takes more - so I wanted to ask are all insulins different? Do some work faster or stronger than others? Because if I had that amount then I'd go hypo

Hi Hidden ,
Yes, some insulin’s work faster than others. Also, it depends on the person, as well. Not all insults are going to be right for every person— like different types of food/diets. It’s the same with dose of insulin. I take 10 units for bedtime with my long acting insulin, but the dose changes with the fast/short acting insulin depending on the amount of carbs. and food I will be eating at the time. I hope this helps.
Yes that is exactly what I'm saying about the fast acting. Does the same amount need to be taken for each insulin?I took 5 for a meal and my sister asked me how much she should take for the exact same meal
I took 5 and she took 8 for the same meal! After taking it she asked have I took too much? 🙈
If it is recent why? Is your sister is on insulin?
My understanding is first life style change and then medication. Not insulin so soon!
She started with tablets which dint help so now on insulin
She had rice and chicken pieces and a typical adult of amount of food. Yes I know it works differently for different people
