1.75 is above the recommended range and generally it can be controlled by having diet that puts least load on the kidneys.Salt and spicy foods like pickles, papads, etc are best avoided.Consulting a good dietician is advisable.

What is the age group. Any medication? you need to look at the health of the person not just one blood test number!!!

What is necessary is to eat small portion, green veg, veg protein.

Not fried or deep fried food. Chicken, all fat removed and eggs cooked in butter, olive oil or ghee good as well. No coke or any other bottled drinks.

Check the weight, check the waist, try controlling food intake for one month and check the weight and waist again. It is thew fat around the waist that needs to be removed.

Take a piece of string cut it to the height, fold in into 1/2 and check the waist, any left over or cannot go around the waist.

I am sure there are plenty of good veg in India, methi is one of them, boiling Sri Lankan cinnamon and drinking it in the evening and morning can help as well.

Type 2 on insulin?, OK.

My aunt, in UK lived up to 86 and enjoyed life. She learned to give insilin injection. From UK she traveled to USA and Canada with her medication. Travel insurance was expensive.

She cooked green leaf veg, watched and checked what she was eating , In the end while in hospital, treatment for a fall, her heart gave way.

Family can help your dad to enjoy life.

SERUM CREATININE level of 1.75 (mg/dL) corresponds to an estimated kidney function rate, known as eGFR, of 41 (mL/min/1.73m) assuming the age of your father is 60 years. This eGFR value indicates moderate decrease in kidney function. eGFR of above 60 is considered very good for this age group. In terms of CKD, eGFR of 41 means stage 3 CKD.

However, this should be confirmed by two separate tests within an interval of three months. If eGFR is below 60 on both occasions, stage 3 CKD is confirmed. There is no need to panic as such, just take care of general health and diet in order to stop any further degradation in GFR. Kidney is still working efficiently.

In my opinion, your father should take care of his blood pressure and blood sugar. That should be given a top priority. HbA1c of 7.2 appears to be on higher side. I would suggest a target of 6 % or so.

Review his diet. Cut down processed food, if any. Reduce carbohydrate intake in general. Eating chicken and meat in moderation is okay as a part of overall healthy diet.

You may need to make changes to your diet when you have chronic kidney disease (CKD). These changes may include limiting fluids, eating a low-protein diet, limiting salt, potassium, phosphorous, and other electrolytes, and getting enough calories if you are losing weight.

Healthy Foods for People with Kidney Disease

Cabbage. 1/2 cup serving green cabbage = 6 mg sodium, 60 mg potassium, 9 mg phosphorus. ...

Cauliflower. ...

Garlic. ...

Onions. ...

Apples. ...

Cranberries. ...

Blueberries.
