Ears turn red, swells and burning sensation

Folks,

I would like to explain a long standing issue of mine and would like to know if any of you have or had these kind of issues or similar issues in the past.

Couple of years ago, both of my ears started turning red and I had burning sensation when there is lack of air. My ears used to burn like fire in mid of the night between 1am to 3am and i use to really struggle with it. I tried many medicines particularly, steroid. But nothing helped.

I consulted many Internal medicine doctors, ENT Specialists and Dermatologists and none of the medicines given by them worked. Then i started taking random tests like ESR, but i missed critical tests such as FBS, PPBS. When i got the results of RBS in last February, it was found to be way too high, 576 mg/dL. So, the next day i went for FBS and PPBS testing. It was 440 mg/dL and 520 mg/dL. It was confirmed that i had T2 D.

Soon after that i started taking herbal medicines, made diet cahnges and at least an hour of exercise, i had pulled my HbA1c from 15 to around 7 in around 5 months.

The burning sensation in my ears has considerably reduced but not completely gone. When my BS crosses 200+ mg/dL (happened on 3 occasions in last 2 months or so), my ears get swollen , turns red and burning sensation comes back.

Has any of you experienced a similar issue?

The external symptoms of high blood sugar vary from person to person. Every human body has a different gene and so every human being behaves strangely and typically to high blood sugar. Every human being's thumb impression is different.

It is good if we identify the symptoms and take action like you did .

For example, if my blood sugar goes beyond 140 and remains above 140 continously for 4-5 days, my arms muscles start aching such that I come to know my blood sugar is not in control. I don't need to prick to find out my blood sugar readings. It alerts me.

Similarly different drugs have different side effects on different people. That is why for any drug , there is a listing of 100's of possible side effects as documented during clinical trials before launch of any drug . Still people come across newer side effects after the product launch and after mass usage.

I'd never recommend assuming bs levels from symptoms only. Real test is a must.

Yes , I do agree. Confirmatory test to rule out other possible causes is a must, though primarily one can always identify root causes by virtue of one's own past experience which could be typical to himself !
