All diabetics go through this incipient stage of diabetes.Long time ago it was called pre- clinical stage and now it is called pre- diabetes. But it is diabetes all the same. A non diabetic should not have A1c of more than 5.5 to 6.So,it is best for you to take all necessary steps to come down to 6.More exercise, controlled diet, reducing weight in a healthy way and leading a disciplined and stress free life style will help you achieve that goal. But first and foremost, gather all the knowledge that you can about diabetes.

HbA1c: Those who have got 6.5% or higher is considered as diabetic. FBS and PPBS tests should be conducted periodically to confirm diabetes. Sometimes HbA1c test result may be false positive.

You should take anti-glycemic agents (diabetes medication) only if you are unable to control your high blood sugar to a normal level. Every drug has it's own side effects.

You can reduce FBS level if you take 12 hour fasting during night time. FBS blood sugar should be less than 100 mg/dL.

Check your HbA1c level once in every 3 months. Target: Less than 6.5%.

Learn more about diabetes mellitus and it's complications.(Refer Internet).

Avoid fried food stuffs in order to avoid cardiovascular diseases.

Over time, people who have diabetes and high blood sugar can develop serious or life-threatening complications, including heart disease, stroke, kidney problems, nerve damage, and eye problems.

Taking medication(s), making lifestyle changes (e.g., diet, exercise, quitting smoking), and regularly checking your blood sugar may help to manage your diabetes and improve your health. This therapy may also decrease your chances of having a heart attack, stroke, or other diabetes-related complications such as kidney failure, nerve damage (numb, cold legs or feet; decreased sexual ability in men and women), eye problems, including changes or loss of vision, or gum disease. Your doctor and other healthcare providers will talk to you about the best way to manage your diabetes.
