Recently I have come across a case of mother of my friend who had BP and high sugar problem since about 10 years but now she is normal and stopped treatment of BP and diabetes as both are normal. On enquiry friend's wife told me that she had dementia since 2 years and she has become normal since then, although they check her every month for BP/sugar etc but found normal without any medicine.Learned members are requested to give their opinions.

I am curious to know if there is any connection in BP/sugar and dementia .After I visited them I could see that the woman who used to knit furiously all the time can't even tell the time of the day.And how can they make millions out of this story Sir ?

Is the blood sugars under control for the woman who has Dementia? If the blood sugars are going all over the place, it can cause mental/memory issues.

One of the doctor friend told me to keep mind cool and he prescribed me a mild anti deprecent. Many a times too much anxiety is also a reason for fluctuations in blood sugar. In my opinion,[I may be wrong],once the mind stops having surge of anxiety,as in dementia, the blood sugar levels become stable.Even my wife has "stress diabetes"and when she is calm ,without stress, her fbs/ppbs are normal. We can say that just by changing eating habits, you can not control diabetes,an effort to control thought process is equally important.

I also feel that stress is contributor in causing diabetes. There is 'white coat syndrome in hypertension, where BP increases when a person visits doctor for checkup, I don't know whether this also happens for Blood Sugar. But, still the stress factor in causing and curing diabetes is not given much importance by the medical fraternity.

Not only that,it is my experience that one should consult a doctor but should be totally depend on his/her opinions.Since it is your life, you should also apply your common sense and analysis what actually is good for you. Most of the doctors use one size fits all formula.

Same white coat syndrome is applicable in diabetes also.Even if you check the level of BS of a student going for a exam, you will find it in increased .

Okay. Is there any improvement without the medication?

Improvement in what sense ?She lives a normal life except effects of dementia for which she has to kept under observation all the times for fear of any hurt.

Sometimes, if a person is taking a medication, it can cause trouble mentally. When taken off, sometimes, a person can be more alert/cognitive in their thinking.😀👍

Alzheimer's disease is the most common cause of dementia. Although not all causes of Alzheimer's disease are known, experts do know that a small percentage are related to mutations of three genes, which can be passed down from parent to child.
