I could not tolerate that drug for even 2 days. I had to stop it.
I started with a fasting sugar of 250 plus and PP of 500 plus when diagnosed exactly a year back along with very high cholestrol and thyroid TSH shooting thru the roof at 51 ( normal max being about 5 ).
Insulin for 3 weeks along with statins for cholestrol and Thyronorm for thyroid brought it down within limits in just 3 weeks. Then insulin stopped. Thereafter, I am using Cetapin XR 1000 mg morning and night each. I do average 8000 steps a day plus a reasonable diet control - 1/4 - 1/2 kg fruits for breakfast depending on hunger ( all types - orange / papaya / grapes / banana / apple and during season mango also ), 1 chapatti plus veggie, dal & salad for lunch and 2 chapatis plus veggie , dal , salad and curd at night. No sweets. No inbetween snacks. Only ghee, Butter and mustard oil ( non refined ). Practically no maida stuff ( breads/ croissants / cakes / maida biscuits / noodles etc ).
Oh yes an occasional red wine - maybe once a month or less.
Weight is down about 2 kg in the last one year.
My sugar levels Fasting is 115 and PP 140 ( 2 hrs after meal ) have sustained over the last 9 months.
I am following almost the same diet.. but not consumung ghee or butter as my cholestrol is high..my question does ghee or butter increases cholestrol ? Or is white butter good instead of yellow?
One year back I was also diagnosed with very high cholesterol/ triglycerides etc. along with high sugar and thyroid condition. For cholesterol, with a 20 mg statin tablet once a day at night after dinner and consuming significant quantities of fried food in mustard oil and veggies made in ghee, my cholesterol is bang in the centre of the recommended range. I think statins may be less of a help in controlling cholesterol than walking on a daily basis ( mine is about 8500 steps a day on an average ).
Hope that regular moderate to brisk walking or gym is part of your routine.
I think the diet was not controlled or the dose was not proper . Repeat blood sugar and ask your doctor again. Brand may matter but difficult to identify
