Janumet is a drug combined of sitagliptin and metformin which is usually prescribed for diabetic people having high sugar level. It is good but costly medicine having side effects like hypoglycaemia, stomach upset problem etc. You can consult your doctor with a similar type of drug named as jitamet plus consisting of teneligliptin and metformin sr with much lesser cost compared to Janumet. My mother, diabetic for more than 25 years after using Janumet 50/500 (twice a day) for five years now taking Jitamet Plus 20/1000 in the morning only with glimepride and metformin sr during night and she is not facing stomach problems which she often encountered while taking Janumet50/500. While mentioning your sugar levels please indicate your hba1c level which is the golden parameter of your sugar level for the last three months on average basis. I think you need not to extra worry about your condition as your Fasting sugar level is well controlled indicating that probably your hba1c level is also well controlled which should be less than equal to 6.5 for diabetic people in our Country. Consult your physician thoroughly as to why he is insisting with Janumet now when similar kind of drug i.e teneligliptin combined with metformin sr with much lesser cost is available in Indian market now. Please note that all the available gliptin like medicines have side effects which should not bother you. Take care and please don't panic.
