Someone in this forum has written that Janumet is banned in India few years back. What is the reason? However, it is being prescribed in the Middle-east. I am in the Gulf last 15 years. My colleague suffers with mild Type 2 and was prescribed with Janumet 50mg twice a day and he was able to control his FBS as well as HbA1c.

Janumet
What is the best way to control Triglycerides - for strict Vegetarians and rice eaters?
janumet is a combination of metformin and sitagliptin. These drugs either alone or in combination were not banned. Sofar no major side effect is recorded except lactic acidosis which is seen with metformin especially in alcoholics either an acute or chronic complication. drvsreeni@gmail.com

I am using Janumet or Januvia with combination of Metformin and Amaryl for past five year and find that
1. I stopped taking INSULIN
2. My fasting & pp sugar as well as as HbA1C results are quite encouraging.
My doctor also confirm that there is question of banning Janument / Jnuvia in India.
I had been prescribed januvia by a diabetologist at apollo hospital Bhubaneswar when amaryl M1 tab twice daiy was not able to control my PP sugar level. However initially it worked better but again it started the same with Januvia also then I changed to janumet. I do not know it has been banned in India and normally banned drygs should not be sold on any shop. In Europe it is being prescribed like hot cake? if there is cancer risk why is it not being banned in European countries?

you have good sugar control. keep it up.
it is wrong information that janumet is banned in India. It is being prescribed by Dr.Balaji of Seshaiah hosbital, Chennai [one of the leading diabotologists]
In a September 2011 article in Bloomberg27, Matteo Monami, a physician at the University of Florence and Carreggi Teaching Hospital in Italy called Butler's study "an erroneous analysis," stating that its results "are really not reliable at all." Monami countered Butler's findings with a meta-analysis28 of his own, which not only found no increase in cancer or pancreatitis for DPP-4 inhibitors like Januvia, but also "possible protection from cardiovascular events."
none of the article has given the dose of the medicines they used.
cancer is a slow evolving process and no one can clearly give a negative evidence with the therapeutic doses of DPP4 inhibitors.
janumet is available in india
JANUMET WAS NEVER BANNED ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD SINCE IT CAME TO THE MARKET IN 2006 IN USA
