Actually, FBS and PPBS are also very important. FBS should be <100 mg/dl always and PPBS after 2 hours <140 and if you wish to have a stringent control you go for PPBS after 2 hours<120

FBS levels show your beta cell function which secretes insulin. Better to get fasting insulin also tested to know insulin resistance (IR) and BCF (beta cell funtion) by Homa 2 calculator. Keep insulin level as low as possible to safeguard pancreas.

PPBS levels should also be controlled well and for that you need to measure PPBS regularly for all foods you eat to know which foods are spiking yr blood sugar levels. Once you know that, you can limit to foods which keeps your PPBS in range. Wheat and Rice or it's flour spikes very high and should be eliminated from the diet of a diabetic to avoid further diabetic complications because high sugar levels continuously will damage all organs like heart, liver, kidney etc in long run.

HbA1c should be <6, so if you are getting it above 6, you need to check yr HbA1c levels regularly every 3-6 months since higher HbA1c levels show spikes in blood sugar levels which generally we can observe thru measuring PPBS levels.

Diet is very important for long term diabetes management though you might be taking allopathic as well as ayurvedic medicines.

My fbs and ppbs fluctuates everyday. If fbs is 130 today, next day it is 150 and again 120 the other day. Ppbs is 160-180 after two hrs and 110-120 after four hrs.. How do you interpret this sort of figures and where do I stand

Get yr fasting insulin and fasting glucose tests done at lab first. With these two test results, we can calculate how yr BCF (beta cell function) and IR (Insulin resistance) works. Very reduced BCF wil keep FBS high. You have to revive yr pancreas then by decreasing the amount of free circulating insulin in the blood and give rest to Pancreas so that BCF doesn't deteriorate further. For reducing insulin release, you have to cut on carbohydrate intake drastically say only around 100 g of carbs. Eliminate wheat and rice from yr diet forever.

PPBS levels show the effect of food you take. So, monitor PPBS levels everytime you eat different food after two hours and see if it comes <140. Otherwise PPBS levels you are getting now will damage your organs in long run.

thanks for the reply. i will do the test as suggested. One month back my fbs was 140 and hba1c was 6.8 in a lab test. Six months back hba1c was 7.6 in the same lab. Lipid profile and s.cretanine was with in normal range. I am a vegetarian and reduced the carb, though not counted. It may be within 100-150.

Take Karela tablets from Himalaya herbals. They have website for online selling too. Karela will reduce FFBS too...I guess. Don't take any medicines which induce insulin secretion. No sulphonylureas or even Ayurvedic medicines which increase insulin secretion.

You can try fenugreek seeds also soaked overnight if you are not already doing it. Taking cinnamon powder regularly also helps.

Depending only on allopathic medicines for controlling BS levels may not work 100%. Use herbs, ayurvedic medicines and diet to manage diabetes.

Thanks for the suggestions. I am in US now and taking fenugreek and True Nature Cinsulin capsules( comp-Vit d3 500IU, chromium 400mcg and cinamon bark extract 500mg). I found very good review of this product. Let me see how effective for me. Also taking glyciphase sr 500 . In your previous reply you have mentioned 'give sufficient rest to pancreas". What it means

I already explained in my post above...

You have to revive yr pancreas then by decreasing the amount of free circulating insulin in the blood and give rest to Pancreas so that BCF doesn't deteriorate further

Contact @anup for more details. He would be able to explain you in detail. He is volunteer here in this forum.

Everytime you eat carbs, insulin is released and more insulin for digesting more carbs you eat...this insulin circulating in blood will cause more fat storage and hence inflammation and due to inflamed cells, cells develop more insulin resistance(IR) due to this IR...cells do not respond to insulin as it should be and can't take glucose into the cells for energy...hence more blood glucose levels.. hope u understood.

All allopathy drs are a bit afraid of hypoglycaemia

So they all would like the blood sugar to be slightly higher

But spikes above 140 will lead to small damages in long run

So spikes less than 140 and a lower Hba1c is always good for us

Its true.Fasting &PP blood sugar need to be monitored by glucometer at home to achieve desired result of HbA1c.
