The formation of type 2 diabetes is directly related to how our muscles convert sugar, a landmark new study has found.

Ashka9 profile image
176 Replies

The work, published in Molecular Metabolism, is the first strong evidence that when muscles fail to convert glucose into a substance called glycogen, it leads to the hallmarks of type 2 diabetes.

"The study also explains why one of the reasons patients with diabetes don't exercise properly is that they may not have glycogen ? if you improve your glycogen stores, you improve the ability to exercise."

Given that the maximum glycogen is only 500grams that can be stored in the liver and muscles even if someone were compromised as described you would still have excess glucose circulating in a very short time.

in reply to MikePollard

Increasing the muscles increases the glycogen stores

Also anyway this excess glucose is disposed off a fatty stores as long as the system does not break down.. meaning diabetes sets in here after the insulin resistance ...

What is root cause of diabetes?

Ashka9 profile image
Ashka9 in reply to alwaysoptimistic

:-) Start studying medicine for that...even doctors after studying medicine for 10 years and more practical experience do not know the cause of diabetes.

But believe me, stress and tension apart from heredity are the main causes for any diseases.

As such my belief is totally different and as per my spiritual experience and study of astrology, diabetes happens due to dosha of shukra/guru planet....i.e. if Venus/Jupiter planet are malefic in native's horoscope...I know you all will laugh at this...but this is absolutely true!:-)

Dear Mr. always optimistic

See, I am a science student and would always first try to find scientific reason for any disease...so as per my experience, I felt stress and tension are basic causes of ANY disease including diabetes.

But as such since my diabetes is not the result of heredity, and I studied astrology a bit, and I studied my horoscope also in detail, I came to know that my Venus planet is being malefic due to affliction by Rahu in my horoscope...and that has caused dosha in my body leading to diabetes. None of parents or family members from either maternal or paternal side had or have diabetes, so genetic reason is ruled out.

If you don't believe me, ask any astrologer....in ancient times Vaidya (Ayurvedic doctor) used to diagnose a person using horoscope also along with scientific clues/symptoms. Treatment was given accordingly not only thru medicines but by doing Graha shanti also....i.e. pacify the planets causing ill effects.

Hope this much is enough for you to understand.

"if Venus/Jupiter planet are malefic in native's horoscope.."

So we all diabetic people must start chanting :

Om Shukray Namah!Om Guruve Namah!!

In order to make Venus and Jupiter happy. And,in this way we can control/cure our diabetes.

Is not it, Ashka9 ?

Ashka9 profile image

Mr. alwaysoptimistic

You have to pay for your karma in past or present lives. Pacifying planets may give you some relief just as medicines gives you relief in any disease just by treating symptoms!:-)

So,what is conclusion about root cause of diabetes?

Which Karma is responsible for it??

Ashka9 profile image
Ashka9 in reply to alwaysoptimistic

Mr. alwaysoptimistic

I think it is sexually related....dosha of having sex with multiple people...polygamy so to say...shukra is related to sex...so shukra dosha give rise to diabetes....Guru also in some cases

But point here is of conversion of glucose into glycogen which is compromised giving rise to diabetes type 2 acc to this article...problem is not of circulating glucose at all....glucose is already circulating according to carbs taken...problem is of conversion by muscle

Dear Mr. Anup

Astrology is an Art and a Science. You don't know about the great subject, doesn't mean it is not valid or it doesn't exist at all.

There are calculations involved in any prediction. Our lives revolve under basic 9 planets. Sun is number one planet. If you don't believe in Sun, don't believe in other stars also!

Science is not only what you know as an engineer. Science is a very vast subject and you have to keep on learning it's different aspects.

Update for you,Ashka9 :

Now,there are only 8 planets in our solar system! Pluto has been excluded!

No. 1 Sun

No. 2 Moon

No. 3 Jupiter

No. 4 Uranus

No. 5 Mercury

No. 6 Venus

No. 7 Neptune

No. 8 Saturn

No. 9 Mars

Sun and Moon are called luminaries. Pluto has not been included in 9 planets as you can see above.

Serial no.s I have written corresponds to that particular planet. If you don't consider Uranus and Neptune, there are 7 planets corresponding to 7 tunes (sur) of Music and 7 colors of rainbow

alwaysoptimistic profile image
alwaysoptimistic in reply to Ashka9

But according to science-Sun is a star and not a planet!

Ashka9 profile image
Ashka9 in reply to alwaysoptimistic

It depends on definition of planet by different people or organizations.

According to Astrology, Sun is Planet corresponding to no. 1. You can call it a star also.

Spiritually, Sun is God. (Surya hi Shiva hai) This is my personal experience. I have talked to Surya many times. God is not a person or entity. I have started with Gayatri Mantra and then japa of all planets. I have experience their existence.

Sun represents soul (atma)...and your heart!

alwaysoptimistic profile image
alwaysoptimistic in reply to Ashka9

"I have experience their existence."

How?

Ashka9 profile image
Ashka9 in reply to alwaysoptimistic

Mr. alwaysoptimistic

This is called spiritual evolution of soul. You have to work for it. You can't experience something on higher levels of spirituality unless you qualify for that.

I can see negative energies as well as positive energies around me.

I have done lot of Japa, Tapa, fasts, reading for knowledge and following according to that...as per norms.

Read our ancient scriptures and try to follow that as per your understanding. Each soul has a different journey.

in reply to Ashka9

According to Science Sun is star and moon is not planet sub planet ( UPA GRAHA )

Earth is planet and sun cannot movement earth is movement Pluto cannot beconsdered as planet by research..

But according jyothishya Rahu ketu and sun and moon treated as planet.

You have posted and given numbers for plane sun 1 moon 2 is according to numerology no. No4 and 7 as Rahu and ketu respectively.

Wearing rings and we get benefit from is completely nonsense.

please understand if we wear gem if we became millionaries or karodpathy why this will be sales by given big advertisement ?

similarly some of astrologer will convince personsto given an kubera yantra and laxmi yentra and servasiddi yentra . if it true why they them used these Kubera yentra and becam too much rich and why necessity to business from astrology and try to money from others ?

in reply to Ashka9

There is time specified for "phala" (result) of each karma...depending on dasha of particular planet. Planets have been given responsibility of giving results (phala) of karma. You get results for both bad and good karma....a person does both good and bad karma in life...some may get result of good karma first and then of bad karma later...doesn't matter when....but you have to pay for all your karma in short. We don't know the past karma but it shows as position of planet in particular kundli...

anup

I didn't understand yr above comment about lion

Are you Leo...that's what you wish to say?

Ashka9 profile image
Ashka9

See. Mr. Anup

Phala of any karma is obtained in particular dasha or antardasha, or pratyantar dasha or even sukshma dasha sometimes of a particular planet. Not only one planet will give a phala...of any karma...4-5 planets come together to give phala...so study Gita...our scripture from Mahabharata...u may get lot of answers to yr questions and start studying astrology if your Jupiter is also strong...it will help you in studying astrology.

Dasha for different people comes at different times....sometimes not in this life time at all....

Astrologers may not be correct because each astrologer has different level of understanding and intelligence.

We have to study ourselves so that we can just work towards getting favourable effects of planets. It is same as we have to become half doctors to take care of our health like we always do on this forum!:-)

What about a 7th house aspect between Shukra (in 11th house/Dhanu) and Guru (in 5th house/Mithuna)? Would that be bad too? They're is in my chart and I'd luv to hear your comments, Ashka9.

One further note to the aspect described above - Guru is conjunct with Ketu while Shukra is conjunct with Rahu. Looks kind of complicated to me but you'll very probably be capable of sorting this out. What astro remedies are in order for this (adverse?) planetary configuration? Thanks.

Ashka9 profile image
Ashka9 in reply to Haldin21

Yeah, Guru with ketu and Shukra with Rahu both indicates Sharpa dosha or Shrapit dosha..means shukra is afflicted with Rahu so it will give negative effects of shukra. Diabetes generally happens due to dosha of Shukra planet. And Guru afflicted with Ketu means Guru won't be able to give shubha phala...i.e. positive effects. Also Guru in your case is in enemic sign of Mercury, so Guru's positive effects not seen. I have same planetary combinations and inspite of some ritual remedies, it is very difficult to keep negatives of such planetary effects at bay since we are born with these planetary configurations. I did lot of japa before 15 years to purify my mind body and soul so that I am able to stay normal and keep my mental balance. But, fasting can help. Fast on Saturdays if possible for you since fasting on the day of the lord of ascendant is always beneficial...in yr case yr ascendant i.e. first sign in horoscope is Kumbha whose lord is Saturn....and Saturday is the day of Saturn. Either eat only once on Saturdays and or eat only fruits, black gram daal, pink salt (not normal salt). Where does Saturn lie in your horoscope? Do Japa of Guru and Shani as per our scriptures. Give charity of Saturn items like black gram daal, umbrella, shoes etc on Saturday or Amavasya. Give charity of Guru items like chana daal or yellow cloth on Thursdays. This would definitely smoothen the harshness of negative effects of these planets. Also, worship Shiva and do abhishek of cow milk and water on Shivling on monday at Shiva Temple. Doing 16 somvar vrat starting from 1st monday of each shravan month for 16 mondays eating one time food without salt also helps.

Haldin21 profile image
Haldin21 in reply to Ashka9

Thanks for taking the trouble to analyze the planetary configurations and I'm truly grateful for your comments. Checking out the shrapit yoga/dosha out, I found that it refers to the link between Shani and Rahu (same house conjunction) and not between Shukra and Rahu and so the dosha may not apply. The best position position for Rahu, according to the literature, seems to be the 11th house. My Shani is exalted in the 9th house/Tula but casts its 3rd house aspect on Rahu [Mangala in 2nd house/Meena]. Whether it negates Rahu's impact or not I don't have a clue. Shani is already too powerful in the chart and the last thing I want is to intensify its impact.

I remember going to this Nadi reader in Chennai once and he told me precisely the same thing - the all powerful influence of Shani ... whew. Talking about Shani who is/represents Lord Shiva astrologically, I've been a follower for a very long time and even did two Youtube videos on the deity and my own Guru, Sri Ramana. So thanks for drawing my attention to them here! I think I'll stick to the Mahamrtyunjaya Mantra and its bija mantras as they are said to tackle all the ills in one's life.

That Shukra is linked to diabetes is interesting as this is the planet that governs the kidneys and this is where diabetes develops according to TCM. Being the 'mother' that controls water element or vital essence (jing/ojas), it impacts the liver, its 'son'. Astrologically, Guru/Jupiter is the wood element which governs the liver:

"According to the five elements theory, the liver belongs to wood and kidneys belong to water. The liver promotes flowing and releasing qi movements, and its other function is to store the blood and regulate the supply, which ensures proper blood circulation and bodily adjustment. The water element generates the wood element in the five elements theory. This is sometimes referred to as a mother-child [cause-effect] relationship because only a mother can give birth to a baby. The kidneys can nourish the liver. The kidneys enhance and nourish the liver so it can function normally." [1] shen-nong.com/eng/principle... [2] acupuncture.com/herbs/tcmki...

Oh, is pink salt the same as Himalayan salt? I've been taking it at half a tsp twice a day along with Celtic sea salt for a while now. Yes, doing a one-day-a-week fasting is good and everyone should do that regularly for health's sake. I bet the following is the oft excuse many people will give: 'The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak!!'

Here are the links to the videos I referred to above. Hope you like/enjoy them [the 3rd video is the latest one - not really related to the first two]:

Yes, Pink salt is Himalayan salt which we call "sanchar" in hindi/gujarati which we add in Pani of Pani puri.

Shani+Rahu is Shrapit dosha, but Shukra in conjunction with Rahu is not shrapit dosha. sorry by mistake I wrote that as I have Shukra+Shani+Rahu in 5th house of my horoscope. But Guru+Ketu is not good for happiness in general but good for spiritual development. Rahu in conjunction with any planet is not good according to me as the good planet is afflicted with negative and bad effects of Rahu. Every planet has positive and negative effect. By doing remedies for a particular planet, we remove it's negative effects and increase it's positive effects. That's why I told you to do fast on Saturday and as Saturn is exalted in yr horoscope, it will be even more beneficial if you do fast...acc to me. Do also Guru upaay as I mentioned before to increase positive effects of Guru...either you can fast on Thursdays or eat first any item made from chana daal on Thursdays and then eat anything else. Even if you fast, eat first item from chana daal when you sit to eat. This way it will smoothen the negative effects of ketu which is in conjunction with Guru. Rahu and Ketu are not considered planets but according to me it's a kind of curse to have them with other planets as the effects of Rahu and Ketu are very harsh. With Mangal+Rahu also not good...similarly Surya+Rahu not good etc...

If you have health issues, doing Sunday fasts without salt and grains eating only fruits and milk items is more beneficial because Sun is God. Sun and Shiva is same. If your Sun in horoscope is not in good position, you need to make it strong by fasting and japa of surya deva. Let me know what is the position of Sun in yr horoscope. Or if you need any more help, give me your birth time, birth place and date of birth. I will make kundli on astrosage.com where i will be able to study which Graha dasha/mahadasha going on, and can suggest you remedies accordingly.

Sun is in 12 house/Makara. No, I do not want/need it to be strong. For one thing, it is the enemy of Shani which is the Lagnapati. So I'm happy where it is. I've the south Indian Vedic charts done some time back and even had 3 astrologers looked at them. I've been in the habit of doing the astrocharts of friends using some digital software and so am familiar with chart data and info. But thanks for volunteering - much appreciated!

The current Mahadasa (Rahu) is actually coming to an end - around June 2019. Following that will be the Guru Mahadasa which I think will bring much brighter times :) I've survived two Sade Shani periods already (thank goodness) and by the time the next one comes around, I'll be long gone and the body thankfully returned to dust. A super sweet goodbye to diabetes then!

Your Sun is also in enemic sign means when Sun is is sign of Saturn, it is called Asta ka Surya meaning weak Sun. Sun represents Soul and Moon represents Mind. So Sun and Moon are two luminaries in horoscope and very important...and need to be strong. Your Rahu dasha will be over so it's nothing much to worry about. But Start Guruwaar fasting just before Guru mahadasha starts. It will give positive results of Guru. Where is your moon located? Sade Saati is nothing to worry about since your Saturn is exalted in 9th which is bhagya house and it is ascendant lord too. Well, Guru mahadasha may not give desired results as in my case it hasn't since it is in enemic sign. But Guru will give you directions for your life. Keep your Sun and Moon...i.e. Soul and Mind respectively strong.

I look at it like this: Sun in the 12th is fine if one is looking at it from spiritual perspective. Adversities when taken in the right spirit/attitude can be turned into gold. Upstairs have also taken care of many adversities and I've found that they like to push the envelope with the best of intentions - to help one get the greatest mileage and make one's life worth living. I've lost count of the trials and tribulations. I now take the path of not identifying with the body-mind, which is what is meant by 'stepping out of field of consciousness'. That's how one can turn the table around and win the game :)

Ashka9 profile image
Ashka9 in reply to Haldin21

Well, as you wish. But I couldn't get it when you say "not identifying with body-mind" because when we are alive we have to work with our mind and body till we die.:-) I believe somehow to be "conscious" all the time. ....i.e. aware of all the possible situations we need to live in as life goes...on..While your philosophy "stepping out of the consciousness" is somewhat unrecognisable for me. However, spiritually, looking inwards always helps but Spiritual aspect is only one part of the life. The other three parts are physical, mental and social which need equal attention to live normal life.

Haldin21 profile image
Haldin21 in reply to Ashka9

I knew you would, sooner or later "ask" me this question as I can see the intelligent Ashta there. The truth lies not in the consciousness field (CF) but THAT which is PRIOR to this CF, which 99% of the sadhaks are not aware of. And this goes the opposite direction of CF, which the poet Robert Frost kind of alluded to in his poem "The Road Not Taken' - you can read it here: bartleby.com/119/1.html.

It is not recommended for folks who are still working and earning their livelihood and you intuited it rightly in the last sentence/comment "The other three parts are... ". The path involving CF while very convenient, being parallel with everyday life, is however based on RELATIVE truth only. If one is retired from everyday concerns, and if it is his/her dharma, then this other ["inconvenient" by contrast] path, or rather stream/approach, is indicated. It is essentially the same as the dharma that the famous Bodhidharma, the 28th Zen/Chan Buddhist patriarch of India, brought or rather "transmitted" to China and it was here that he finally settled down, becoming the first patriarch. According to a story, someone saw him walking around one day shortly after his death and burial. He said he was heading for the Himalayas and he was walking barefooted. The onlookers however saw a SINGLE shoe dangling from his staff. Curious, people dug up his grave, opened the coffin and found an empty casket except for one/the other shoe lying in it! The Chinese to this day regarded him as the father of gongfu. The style/steps of gongfu are similar to those used in the martial arts of south India.

Note the no. 28 - the same no. that keeps coming to me too. It is 2 x 8 = 16, to me the Chinese equivalent of the tantric 16. Both no 2 & 8 are the digits for the month and day of my birthday too, believe it or not. Life is beautiful in that way, once one begins to clearly see and realize the Cosmic game that we are all engaged in ......... Leeeeeeeeeeeeeela!! When the everyday person see the world as it really is, and not as s/he is, then the Cosmic game has truly begun.

Awareness & Consciousness are related but are not the same. One of them is unborn, the other begotten. Most folks regard the two as the same and use the words interchangeably but that's OK in everyday life but when clear discernment / Buddhi arises, then that's another matter. Until that day comes about and around, toss them in any way you wish.

I couldn't help but notice the number 16 as in "16 somvar vrat" "16 Mondays". Any particular significance to this number w.r.t. Shiva? Or, has it got something to do with the 16 tithis of the Tantric moon? I couldn't help but linking it to the visit of an ashram many years ago when I heard this number whispered into my ear... and this happened around the time of Mahasivarathri. Based on what you wrote here, I googled up "somvar vrat" and was amazed at the many stories about this 16-Monday fasting.

Frankly this is the first time I've heard of somvar vrat but I must say that since that ashram experience mentioned above, this number along with 8 or ashta have been cropping up all over; for a start, it's my Guru's number, and both of us were born on the 16th lunar day of a particular lunar month. I even live on the 16th floor of an apt which I originally rented at $1,600 and when the housing agent issued the first receipt, the number on that receipt was 1006.

I've since then learned that in a past life, my family members were deeply involved in Sri Yantra worship/ritual and that Sri Yantra mantra itself contains exactly 16 syllables of which 15 are taught and that the final remaining one being whispered into the ear of sadhak when s/he is ready. She even allowed herself be called Sodashi - the number-16 Goddess!! Life can be so weird and wonderful! But I do intend to carry out the 16-Monday fasting and hope it will help unblock/unlock the health issues. So my heartfelt thanks to you for bringing up the subject, even fortuitously. Hmm, it does smell like a serendipitous event to me - one that is perhaps not so fortuitous after all :)

Number 16 is 1+6=7, so 7 is a spiritual number. Personally, I am born on 16th date, so I am also ruled by no. 7 which is as such good for spirituality. I am not aware of details of 16 Goddess and all...but do not go in too much detail of how and why...just doing 16 somvar will help. I read and absorb only that much which I can understand and implement or apply to myself or my life. For self realization, going into details of rituals or learning scriptures is not required. God help us when we are ready as a student to learn what he wants us to learn.

Good to hear that you're a no. 16. For me, it's not reducible to 7 for it (16) has a special significance in Hindu tantra, particularly to the lunar phases. I've started the somvar vrat - yesterday was Monday, see? Another 15 more to go. Anyway, I might just do water fasting on alternate days and see where it takes me. You're right about not bothering too much with learning rituals and scriptures... I stopped doing all that a while ago as I get info, instructions directly from Source.

You can't wear Moonga because it is debilitated in 9th position and afflicted with Rahu though it is your ascendant.

You can wear real Pokhraj for Guru as it is in Trikona of your kundli and Swagruhi means it is in it's own house so it is not weak or malefic. Moreover, your Guru dasha is already running so it will be highly beneficial to you

but beware, purchase pokhraj (yellow sapphire) from reliable Soni or jeweller and wear on thursday morning from 7 to 7:30 am when the moon is waxing taking Sankalpa (with water in copper spoon) in presence of God Surya praying him to nullify all doshas or ill effects of planet and to give good results.

between.... there is an alternative thing for gems.... you can use various herbs instead of gems....

You have to wear and change stone and gems as per dasha and mahadasha....

Try herbs instead of gems which gives same effect....

About polygamy....even polygamy was followed in India since ancient times....

Look at Shri Rama...why he is great?? cause he was Ek Patnivrata' husband of just single wife....but what about his father??? his father Dashrath had 4 wives....

However, terrorists are from all religions....no doubt about this.... infact suicide bomber was concept first introduced by LTTE....which was Hindu organization...

So what is difference??? it is straight....even LTTE or any terrorists never tries to give excuse in name of religion and scriptures....

LTTE never said killing innocent is dharmayuddha....

Just because you don't believe in astrology, doesn't mean it doesn't exist or it is not a science....

Child is under Parent's planets effects till he is born, so exact planetary position at birth time...when the child comes into this world only counts...because it starts it effects then...Everybody's planets affect others..especially family members.

If you believe in Karma theory, then who gives you results of Karma? Saturn stands for giving you results of karma whether good or bad. All planets have been given their job...Everything in universe is according to order. Sun is no. 1 planet...if you do not believe in Sun, don't believe in any planets or its effects or astrology. If you do not believe in Moon, do not believe in ebb and tide of sea also...

If you just feel pain reading it, it is awful rather to say that you would never undergo evolution as a soul....without understanding astrology, it is difficult to come out of karma and get moksha as well...free will is always there...but Karma is not individual...we are all connected to each other....other's karma also affect us...when you can exert your FREE WILL so to say? When your all Karma are neutralized....

Ashka9 profile image
Ashka9

@anup

See....all karma has it's pros and cons...sometimes we commit sins knowingly...we have to exist in this practical world....I hate lies but I have to speak lie sometimes to avoid clash with anybody...or to hide something from parents especially...:-)

Polygamy is not considered good in our Indian way of life. Rama is that's why considered "maryadaa purushottam" since he followed monogamy...

Depends on different situations in life also...we don't know other people's life and needs.

A character is build on control of mind and a person loses his mind if too much involved with lust....Lust is not good. Otherwise, "sex" is pure and natural...being loyal to yr partner makes you more happy and satisfied in long run than going for multiple partners and live a roller-coaster life.

Ashka9 profile image
Ashka9

@anup

society has nothing to do with individual personal karma. People following polygamy do that under closed doors mostly....so society may not know the character of the person at all in its true sense....

But when you sleep with anybody, your karma get's attached to that person's karma...then you have to bear the consequences...whatever it may be good or bad...and as per you...for just few moments of pleasure, having multiple partners is not justified!:-)

Ashka9 profile image
Ashka9

anup

it's same as giving 15 seconds of pleasure to taste buds by eating what we enjoy...be it carbs, mango, wheat (which is addiction acc to u)...similarly having sex with multiple partners is a kind of addiction for fulfillment of senses...just a sensual pleasure....what else?

Can a person be attached emotionally to a sexual partner if he or she doesn't stay with her or him or doesn't know each other since long?

What about one night stands? it's just a few moments of pleasure...

Ashka9 profile image
Ashka9

I have heard of platonic relationships long back and have realized in my life that a man and a woman can be a friend...just a friend but platonic relationships are not possible...between them.

I don't know what society thinks...I least care about it...those people who hide their relationships from society care more for the society so that they are not look down upon for their bad deeds/karma/lust/polygamy/character.

Why Bill Clinton had to lose because of Monica lewinsky?

Ashka9 profile image

u know our X-prime minister Vajpayee had a girl friend since college and he could not marry her...she then married somebody else and had a daughter also....and this whole family was staying with Vajpayee while he was PM...see here Vajpayee didn't hide anything from society...and even he adopted his girl friend's daughter for his inheritance...now this is not for pleasure but true love...

Love is different than sex ....sex is not bad when you really love somebody....but just physical relationship for a temporary period for sensual pleasures...not good overall. It drains the person's soul....

I don't believe in anything temporary...commitment is a must in a relationship.

Ashka9 profile image

Lower expectations and less demanding would serve better to success of a relationship.

Not only demanding...but a dominating, self-centered person can never be truthful to a partner...u have to think of other person when you are in love....u have to do things for your partner....sacrifice...surrender in love...love is not easy....

Ashka9 profile image
Ashka9

You are speaking the language of an advocate....there are many more aspects of life than legal aspects alone....

CONTRACT so to say is based on conditions which should not be there in a relationship....like if you do this or stay with me...then only this relationship works...

that's why I say, sacrifice....and let go....is a must in a relationship....give yourself to your partner...and it will definitely work....do things for each other....it will give you satisfaction...

There are DEAD relationships somewhere in a legally approved Marriage...a person staying in live in relationship feels insecured....men particularly feel more freedom in such relationships so that they can leave at any time....

A person in a bad marriage feels traped...people stay together for kids...though not compatible or get along with each other....

so this is life...

Ashka9 profile image
Ashka9

beti ka dyaan rakhna is not a CONDITION or CONTRACT...it is a request by a father who love his daughter and wants her to be happy....when a girl is married...her happiness depends on the support of husband and in laws...NOT EASY AT ALL to leave the home and family where she has been grew up all her life and to set into new family and unknown members of family...

as u already said every relationship is a GIVE AND TAKE...so if you give then only u can take...understood?

Ashka9 profile image
Ashka9

see...everybody wants to be happy....an expectation or a demand to be happy is not wrong at all....fulfill that demand and you too will be happy doing it...do it for others for a change...don't live only for yourself....we can't live alone as humans...we are social animals....living together demands some sacrifices, compromises, adjustments...right?

Ashka9 profile image
Ashka9

sacrifices not for society but for the people you love and would like to have in your life always...for people whom you can't afford to lose...making somebody happy is not a sin...you are always accepted the way you are if somebody really loves you...no need to change for anybody..stay the way you are...why you should change your originality for the sake of others?

I will not go in detail...but I have read Western and Eastern Astrological books and have studied them for years....

Just read one American author's book "Star signs" by Linda Goodman...I started with that and ended studying our Indian astrological system based on Moon...while Western astrological system is based on Sun. I take into account both when I need. It is useful to live life with a direction. Prediction may come true or not....because there are lot of possibilities in Universe. Astrology is not just a ritual for people who know it...it can be ritual and show off for so called "modern" people who do not know it and do not believe it.

That's why I said before, if you do not believe in Sun and Moon, don't believe in Astrology too.

Ashka9 profile image

It is very dreading for me atleast to inject myself one day when oral drug doesn't work due to progression of disease with time as BCF deteriorates....

If diet can solve the problem why go to such an extent of injecting yourself multiple times a day? It is not easy at all. Pricking yourself just to test your BS level with glucometer multiple times a day can make fingers sore. I have known this from another diabetic community where members are there from around the world and many of them are on insulin injecting long acting short acting etc insulin multiple times a day and having problems on skin and lot of other problems...they have to change their place of injection on the body frequently....what happens to body...ehhh! Forget about extensively counting carbs at each meal so that it matches units of insulin.

If anybody can control their BS levels with whatever method is convenient to them....then what's the problem?

I have seen since last two days only that wheat increases BS LEVELS like anything than anything else....not even sweets increase BS level like that. Excluding Wheat and Rice can be beneficial for long term diabetes management.

Many diabetic people get their blood sugar low after a meal. I got "63" after a meal before few days I mentioned, and it was a terrible feeling.

If you two are unaware of it, doesn't mean you give such an illogical explanation saying it's psychological

it's not due to thyroid or any other hormonal problem

Many diabetic people get their blood sugar low after a meal. I got "63" after a meal before few days I mentioned, and it was a terrible feeling.

And once, you said diabetes is due to Grah-dosha!

If you two are unaware of it, doesn't mean you give such an illogical explanation saying it's psychological

I know about hypoglycemia.

it's not due to thyroid or any other hormonal problem

.

Low blood sugar can occur for a number of reasons. It’s usually a side effect of diabetes treatment.Diabetes affects your body’s ability to use insulin.Think of insulin as the key that unlocks your cells, letting glucose in for energy. People with diabetes use a variety of treatments to help their bodies use the glucose in their blood.Among these are oral medications that increase insulin production and insulin injections. If you take too much of these types of medications, your blood sugar may drop too low.People also sometimes experience low blood sugar when planning to eat a big meal, but then they do not eat enough.Skipping meals, eating less than normal,or eating later than normal but taking your medication at your normal time can also lead to low blood sugar levels.Unplanned excess physical activity without eating enough can also cause a drop in blood sugar levels.Drinking alcohol when you’re on these medications can also lead to low blood sugar, especially if it replaces food. When the body is trying to get rid of alcohol it becomes worse at managing blood sugar levels. You do not have to have diabetes to experience low blood sugar. Some other causes of low blood sugar include:

*Certain medications,such as quinine

*Some medical conditions, such as hepatitis or kidney disorders

*A tumor that produces excess insulin

*Endocrine disorders, such as adrenal gland deficiency

We are not doctors and experts in medicine or physiology of a body.Even as a Pharmacist,I try to understand the 'TECHNICAL" reason,

I know the fact that a man having DSLR camera need not to be a good photographer!

but it is waste to expect anything "sensible" from "non-technical" persons.

You must have control on your words!

Saying, it's psychological is such an ignorant thing.

You can not remove psychology from human life!

Yes, most type 1 diabetics take about 3 shots of fast acting insulin during the day, but 1 shot at bed time that's long acting. Novalog is short acting and Lantus is long acting and used at bed time.

Some CGMs do have pumps, but not all do yet. DEXCOM is working on making their CGM system be like a pump. Right now, they have the receiver and a pump from another company being able to use the same sensor for both items, but sold seperately. Depending on the type of medical insurance, a person could get the DEXCOM system and pay $50 for each part of the system. Sensors come in either boxes of 4 or 1 depending on what the situation is for that person.

I think in India Medical Insurance doesn't cover diabetes supplies...atleast mine doesn't...

CGM and pumps non affordable here in India by an average person.

Activity2004 profile image

As far as taking insulin in the first place, it depends on the person and what type of diabetic they are. If they're type 1, they will be put on insulin and given the choice to either use a pump, or needles. Some people are brittle and can't be put on the pump since they drop extremely low and fast-- like myself.

I don't agree with any of the point presented by you above.

Anyway, your intuition is rational or scientific?

Tobacco has effects on everybody...don't say you didn't have ANY effects at all. Different people, different effect. Most people get cancer out of long term use of tobacco. But that doesn't mean people won't have cancer if they don't take tobacco or alcohol. Cancer, diabetes are non curable diseases...progressive diseases...relapse happens...even if 'REMISSION' done temporarily.

Don't agree with me when I say, there is an organ failure as the diabetes progresses....because of high glucose levels if tight control is not exercised by any of the method! We can't change the perception of anybody for that matter.

You don't need any scientific studies or organizations so to say....for what food has effect on you. Just measure PPBS after 2 hours of any food you eat and test which food causes PPBS above 140 after 2 hours. Just as easy as that.

Don't fight only over one issue ..i.e proportion of carbs, fats and protein...it is not important at all. Just measure your FBS and PPBS and HbA1c regularly, plus lipid profile and you will understand from that...you don't need any body else to interpret your test results since all information is available on internet.

Anyhow, you can take guidance or advise from the experienced people who have been successful in controlling their BS levels with or without medicine... suramo @anup Hidden alwaysoptimistic Hidden shrisamarth etc...

Give people some time to know and understand what you talk of....give breathing period...and if they still can't be convinced, what will you get by wasting so much time by just asking all to present medical reports and studies...do you need that anyway?

Wishing Diwali does not depend on 'MOURNING' of a loved one's death. We silently cry when we miss him....that doesn't mean we stop living life....you know what...when he died...I ate breakfast at 8:30 am in the morning and went to hospital...then he died around 1 pm and we were all busy till cremation. We all drank tea made by our neighbour when his body was lying in our living room. After cremation, after taking bath, I just started first eating dinner at 8:30 pm since I was hungry and was feeling tense and tired also....thinking eating heavy dinner would make me sleep. By the dinner was arranged by my Mama. But can you guess...I couldn't sleep at all then may be couple of hours... Body needs nutrition more in times of crisis...similarly mind also gets it dose by talking to people...that's why people and relatives come to meet after a family member's demise...so that other family members going through grief remains busy talking to them and feel better. That is our good social system and I really appreciate it.

Well, about @anup, we do enjoy his company and I like debating with him to lose always!:-) But he keep on repeating the same sentences citing the same examples...isn't it boring enough for people to go through it multiple times? That's why few people get initimidated by him and stopped visiting this forum at all or are afraid to present their views. Not good. Not all diabetics are the same and some can't just do the same as the rest of the group. I take 4 shots a day and use insulin pens that have screw on needles to insert the insulin dose each time. You screw on the needle before using the insulin and then put the needle cover back on and throw it away in a sharps container and do the same alll over again for the next dose.

Apart from zinc supplement, what else would help make liver function normal and better?

in reply to Ashka9

potassium , copper , magnesium , manganese ,calcium ,zinc are all important for the healthy liver functioning. But nothing should be taken in excess .By having a kitchen garden and meeting the needs through fresh plants all these nutrients are supplied . We don't need big quantities . Small bunch of greens in each variety is enough . No need to go to supplement where cost is high , half the nutrients are lost in the processing .Alternatively you can buy in homeopathic shop in minute potencies and taking for 3 weeks , after getting serum tests and finding out the deficiencies . When once deficiencies are replenished , there would not be any need for any medicines or special diets .

in reply to Ashka9

Magnesium , copper , thiamine , to a certain extent manganese . all help . LACK of manganese causes thyroid dysfunction, poor elasticity of muscles .Magnesium deficiency causes deficiency of calcium ,deficiency of potassium , lack of appetite , liver cirrhosis , fatty liver ,tremers , nausea , vomiting , numbness and tingling in limbs ,mood changes , water retention or salt retention. Correct magnesium levels keep BP and sugar levels under control .EVEN fatty foods destroy beta cells to certain extent. Flax seeds , apple cedar venegar , magnesium , omega3 fatty acids ,bananas , menthi seeds ,insulin plant leaves , amlaki , karela Gymnema sylvester , vijaya sar bark powder , all are said to be of much help in reversing diabetes .

in reply to Ashka9

A substance which causes disease , if given to a healthy normal person produces the same symptoms .Going by that logic which gets verified by experiment, we can take that substance .That's how homeopathy originated .But with all the textual records ,even to day I first take any medicine which I give to any patient to have a first hand information .Like that I experimented on me many medicine . Like for example if tuberculinum is taken it gives cough , head aches , fever , sense of emptiness in head and many other symtoms . But since it is not the defect of the system it goes away shortly .In cancers I first start with tuberculinum though it does not come under the category , but a good start.

I just found the reason why we as diabetics should not soak in Epsom salts. It seems that we absorb the magnesium which causes an increase in insulin, then hypoglycemia. So, if we take magnesium supplement as you suggested above...it would drastically lower our blood glucose levels due to excess insulin

in reply to Ashka9

I WAS talking about deficiencies . EXCESS of any thing leads to complications .That's why first serum test has to be undergone for arriving at a decision ,before taking any medicine or supplement as per my view .

Haldin21 profile image

Hidden Yes, that's correct - in the 9th house and not 11th. Thanks Ashka9. I admire Paramahansa Yogananda and the Mahasiddhas but we don't share the same dharma/path. I read that Ramalinga who belongs to the same school was able to dematerialize his physical body and literally disappear. After all, the body ultimately is just energy as we learned in physics, and when one learns occultly the secret of physical transmutation, dematerializing the body and then disappearing like Ramalinga should be as easy as popping a grape in the mouth and swallowing it!! Tibetan siddhas on reaching a certain level of development are capable of turning their body into what is called 'the rainbow body' and then disappear. Padmasambava, founder of Tibetan Buddhism, was able to do that, for instance.

Yogananda's classic book about the Himalayan masters makes for fascinating reading.

I've just done two out of the sixteen Monday (water) fasting, taking the cue from Ashka9 who brought up the subject of somvar vrat. The day after the first fast (Tuesday, that is), my glucometer recorded a BS drop of 4 mmol (72mg).

The moment she enumerated 16, it hit me rightaway as this very no. has been dogging me all along. As a side note, I would also like to say that I also heard the same number blaring from the nearby TV that happened to be turned on while I was reading what she wrote about somvar vrat. I get this kind of synchronicity a lot so it's not too surprising. I did mention this to someone before and his one-word response was 'resonance'. Now, I do like the sound of both actually, hahaha. Wow indeed to synchronicity + resonance!

I don't know whether the drop in BS is is entirely due to the fast or just partially. You see I've doing this iodine loading for close to two months as well. I am thinking of doing a midweek fast as well to see if it would intensify the fall in BS even further. During the fast, I halved the daily metformin dosage. I guess the BS drop would have been even more than 4 mmol, if I had stuck to the full daily dose instead of halving it.

You wrote: "Now that Saturn is in the 11th from lagna and 5th from moon, he gives unconditional blessing irrespective of Dasha, specially in spiritual sadhana."

Hmm, the ball is now in your court :)

Oh thanks for the reading! Though I did close to a year of Vedic astrology once, it was just a scratch on the surface of the vast subject. Unfortuantely, transits, dasas, etc. were not on the menu. I'd rather do a course on the Nadi technique of predictions, after Bhrigu Nandi Nadi - I find the example charts and corresponding readings very interesting. Unfortunately, there are no explanations given anywhere in the book... just a comprehensive record of example charts.

Amazing that you took the trouble to type all that out... thanks for the lead re the disparity between Lahiri and Raman's ayanamsha. I took a look at the 3 astrocharts I have and found two of them are based on Lahiri [23 deg, 14', 10"] while the other one isn't. I assume the latter is Raman's [23 deg, 7', 60"] even though there is no mention of his name on the chart.

According to Lahiri, the Jup dasa begins on July 15, 2019 while for the Raman's (?), it begins on July 22, 2018 - a difference of about one year! The relative positions of the lagna and Jup vary only slightly in the two sets of charts as follows:

Lahiri: [1] Lagna - 8 deg Aquarius 20' [2] Jup - 28 deg Gemini 45'

Raman (?): [1] Lagna - 8 deg Aquarius 27' [2] Jup - 28 deg Gemini 51'

Planet Jup which tenants the 5th house (Gemini) is not aspected by Saturn although Saturn in the 9th house (Libra) does throw a 3rd house aspect on Jupiter's house (Sagit) which is occupied by Venus & Rahu and these two planets throw a 7th aspect on Jup & Ketu that tenant the 5th house.

Saturn does get a fifth aspect from Jupiter. A beneficient impact, I hope!

My thoughts:

So, it looks like the diabetic issue is not generated by the Saturn-Jupiter aspect.

I didn't realize that the different ayanamshas could affect the timing of the dasa. In this case it amounts to one year, which is considerable and probably a contentious issue as you rightly pointed out. Any further feedback will be much appreciated.

Ashka9 profile image
Ashka9 in reply to Haldin21

Ayanamshas is degrees of the position of the planet...right? Well, I am not aware of Lahiri and Raman etc but horoscope made based on moon calculations....are more accurate since moon stays in one sign only for 2 1/4 days. And for calculating dashas, we should take into account only Vimshottari dasha, that's what I have learnt.

Haldin21 profile image
Haldin21 in reply to Ashka9

Ayanamsha has to do with the peculiar wobble of the earth's rotation around its axis relative to the stars. On account of this, there is this phenomenon known as the precession of the equinoxes, resulting in a current discrepancy of roughly 24 deg, calculated from AD 285. This is the main difference between Western (or Tropical) and Vedic astrology (or Sidereal).

Tropical astrology is NOT based on the stars; it is only a symbolic system, unlike Jyotish. So in the latter, the ascendant is usually one sign/house behind the Tropical ascendant. Since each sign/house occupies 30 deg. an Ayanamsha of 24 deg would affect 80% of a given [Tropical] sign. So, if your Tropical/Western ascendant is Taurus, the ascendant in a Jyotish chart would very likely be Aries unless one is born in the last 20% segment of the 30 degree sign/house.

Tropical astrology is based on the location of the Sun hence the common question: "What is your Sun sign?" Time of birth is unnecessary for drawing up a Tropical chart but it is necessary in a Jyotish/sidereal chart as there is a change of ascendant sign every two hours. The Vimshottari Dasha, as used in both systems (Raman and Lahiri), remains the same.

You can read more about Ayanamsha here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ayanamsa

@Ashka9

Hi, I read that guru-chandalayoga is a yuti and not drishti affair, and in the chart of mine, both planets are placed at opposite ends yielding a seventh house aspect. So the yoga you mentioned here may not apply necessarily.

I found at Astrodienst that the Raman Ayanamsha is more than 1 deg 20 min. In fact, it is 2 deg 20 min. This is enough to push Jup into Cancer** at 0 degrees 12 min and this also happens when I selected Yukteshwar's Ayanamsha, in which case it is Cancer at 0 deg 8 min. And when I selected the Dhruva/Galactic Center/Mula (Wilhelm) Ayanamsha, it yields Jup in Cancer 2 deg 36 min!! So the 3 deg Ayanamsha will definitely put Jup in Cancer and not Gemini. The more traditional Ayanamshas like KP, Lahiri, True Chitra, Suryasiddhanta will however place Jup firmly in Gemini instead. Well, it all really looks very "iffy" to me, this astro biz. Perhaps it's wiser not to rely on such controversial data.

Here's a remark I came across in one article:

"So far the only software today, to this authors knowledge, which depicts the Ayanamsa based on actual star positions is Jagannath Hora, by PVR Narasimha Rao. The software uses an ephemeris with the actual star positions to fix the ayanamsa."

Source: Ramblings on Ayanamsa: srigaruda.com/ayanamsa/

There are many ayanamshas in the literature - here's a list + notes at Astrodienst, a site that offers free horoscope charting under "Drawings & Charting". The extended horoscope charting includes sidereal-based calculations. Astrodienst data is said to be the most precise as it is based on satellite technology plus it comes with a whole array of Ayanamshas (Fagan-Bradley, Raman, J N Bhasin, Yukteswar, Suryasiddhanta, etc). The only drawback is that it only uses wheel charts and doesn't include N & S Indian charts.

astro.com/astrology/in_ayan...

** Interestingly, the placements of other planets still remain in the same respective houses and signs and so are not affected. Only Jupiter's position is affected.

[1] If Jup is indeed in the 10th/Cancer, it would then get exalted there. Does this exalted status cancel, buffer or moderate Saturn's aspect on the 10th?

[2] I read somewhere in the astro literature that Saturn is considered malefic generally. The exception to the rule is this: when Saturn is the Lagnapati and/or exalted, which it is for Kumbha ascendants and exalted in this chart, then it is not malefic. I am curious about having two exalted planets, 2 big players in the chart and wonder where the configuration will lead to eventually.

[3] Again assuming that Jup is indeed in the 10th, this will bring forward the Jup Dasa by one year which will then fall in mid or late July 2018. Will this transition from Rahu to Jup. Dasa in July 2018 bring any health relief, etc. What is your view?

I remember our astro tutor telling us once that the 2nd and 11th lord are the Maraka lords. In the chart, Jup functions as both the 2nd & 11th lord !!

Thanks for the feedback!

Saturn is the planet of Karma. We produce various doshas while we live a life. These doshas result into an ailment in particular dasha of a particular planet according to our natal chart. That's why we always say, purify your mind, body and soul. Any disease first enters our astral body and then into physical body. Doing Japa of planet which is afflicted or creating a problem helps. Even wearing a Jem also helps. You wear Blue sapphire since Saturn is exalted and lagnadhipati also. As you might be knowing, our first house of horoscope represents our physical body...so removing negative effects of your lagnadhipati Shani will resolve lot of your problems. Wearing a Jem for a planet removes it's negative effects and start giving positive effects. This doesn't mean diabetes will be cured or can be cured. We have to pay for all the doshas we created in our existence.

I've just come across an interesting and relevant passage on page 99 in J. N. Bhasin's book "Medical Astrology: A Rational Approach" which reads:

"Diabetes is generally accompanied by a diseased liver and frequent urination. Jupiter is sugar and controls it. Venus is urinary system. Both Jupiter and Venus when under the 'separative' influence of such factors as Sun, Saturn and Rahu cause this princely disease. An example may be seen in birth chart No 56:

Here Jup [Virgo] is under the separative influence of the the direct 7th aspect of Saturn [in Pisces and conjunct with Mars] and the 7th full aspect of Mars [in Pisces], lord of the house of separation and of the sign occupied by Ketu [in Scorpio].

Venus [in Sagittarius/Lagna] has the 10th full aspect of Saturn, a separative planet, thus establishing the disease."

The above description does support your view that Saturn is the key player - aspecting both Jup and Venus, both planets playing lead roles in the genesis of diabetes. Ashka9's emphasis and insistence on Venus' role in diabetes is indeed justified too. Overall, the planetary functions and aspectual influences evidently provide support for medical astrology.

What I am not clear about is what Bhasin meant by "separative" influence esp. with respect to Mars. Can anyone explain this? Thanks.
