Usual life-cycle of the dreaded disease named Diabetes as understood by me.

Most persons think & propagate that Diabetes is a syndrome and not a disease. I totally disagree with it. Blood Sugar escalation is only the symptom of Diabetes; disease belongs to Pancreas (to be more precise Beta-cells).

Effect of Diabetes on subsystems &/or components of human body:

PRIMARY: (usually go unnoticed)

1.Blood sugar level exceeding upper limits (FBS >100 mg/dl, PPBS>140 mg/dl)

2.HbA1C increasing (normal range: 4.2% - 5.7%)

3.Cells being deprived of Oxygen & Glucose

SECONDARY: (obvious & leads to detection)

1.Frequent urination, persisting &/or unclenched thirst & repeating hunger.

2.Quick & unexplainable weight loss.

3.Persistent tire & fatigue unresolved even by food intakes and rest.

4.Possible misunderstanding among young couples sometimes leading to family breakdown due to diabetic sexual dysfunction

TERTIARY: (affecting quality of life & confidence)

1.Numbness in lower parts of legs (ankles & feet).

2.Even minor skin injuries developing to prolonged wounds.

3.Loss of sensation. (Even ant-bites on wounds being not sensed.)

4. Liver enlargement & associated/subsequent problems

FIERCE FINALE: Diabetic neuropathy sometimes culminating in:-

1.Diabetic gangrene of legs – leading to amputations.

2.Diabetic retinopathy – irreversible loss of sight.

3.Diabetic nephropathy – irreparable kidney damage.

4.Diabetic brain hemorrhage (Stroke )– lifelong total or partial paralysis.

5.Atherosclerotic Heart Disease (Silent Angina) – the FINAL event.

The beaten track of Diabetes management:

Starts with exercise & diet control (quantity restriction & Glycemic Index based food swapping) ... (Stage 1).

Progress to low dose medication usually ½ Tab once daily in addition to stage 1 practices ...(Stage 2).

Advance to higher doses of Tabs + Stage 1 practices ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...(Stage 3).

Switch to stronger Tabs in Stage 3 practices ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... (Stage 4).

Progress further to INSULIN injection (initially once daily, then twice, thrice & finally with every meal) in addition to Stage 1 practices ... ... (Stage 5).

Then combination of a few of the above ... ... ... (Stage 6).

Combination (union) of all the above (diet control, exercise, tabs & insulin injections) ... (Stage 7).

Finally the UNSTABLE phase where prescribed dose of medicines pulls to hypoglycemia & reduced dose shoots the blood sugar up! (this topples the peace of mind as well as courage) ... (Stage 8).

Diabetes is not only a dreaded disease but a progressive disease and when it is progressing not only it cannot be controlled by the tablets but it proceeds to cause impairment to the physical body starting from mind to feet like diabetic depression, blindness, respiratory illness, then proceeding to cause a dreaded incurable disease called Gastroparesis a vagus nerve problem of delayed digestion and stomach emptying which further leads to chronic constipation, nausea, ulcer, colon and rectal problems and delayed production/conversion of glucose in the system and non usage of insulin in the body ,a kind of insulin resistance, witha rapid increase of a "dawn syndrome" called increase of blood sugar rise in the morning .I have been suffering from diabetes since six years but even with daily walking around 4 to 5 kilometers, yoga, pranayams like Kapalpathi around 500 times and naadi sudhi pranaym, meditation and refraining from any sugar or sweet items and also following taking Metformin 500mg 3 times(morning, afternoon and night), also Glipizide 5mg 3 times and also LWMDR during night time around the 60 grams equivalent to my body weight in kilos my diabetes blood sugar level is ever increasing fasting around 197 and postprandial around 297 and HbA1c around 8.6.Now will you call this as a disease or disorder.I JOIN HANDS WITH Mr.Shooter George and emphatically tell that DIABETES IS A DEADLY DISEASE and anybody who are in pre diabetic stage kindly curtail all your sugar and sweet eating spree and take care of yourselves with loads of vegetables and use least carbs and also plunge into Long wheat mash regime and protect yourself from the onset of diabetes in future because once you are affected by the Dreaded Disease Diabetes you can be rest assured of your worst beginning of an end. God Bless you all.

Hi ssampath,

Thank you for the positive remarks. I have some reflections on your response.

1. With HbA1c 8.6, postprandial around 297 & fasting around 197 with Metformin 500mg 3 times(morning, afternoon and night), also Glipizide 5mg 3 times your Diabetes can be compared to a fully loaded container lorry traveling at 120 KMPH. You know that trying to stop it using handbrake at a down gradient will turn out to be a difficult task.

2. Consuming some food made from Long Wheat at some convenient time is not LWMDR. There is a word "threshold". Taking LWM once daily will form only half of the required quantity. If you hold half of an umbrella & walk in the rain, will it protect from rain, however light the rain be?

To find out the reason for the growth of your Diabetes, I have two questions:

3. How much is your Body Mass Index (BMI)?

4. Do you take liquor?

After quitting milk and all milk products , the next thing is to have one fourth of the plate raw salads the remaining 3 should be daal (any) one grain only and one vegetable for lunch and dinner. Chapatti to be avoided. Instead either jowar or bajra roti. I don't have non veg and oil is bare minimum that too only filtered. Morning no tea or coffee. Only a glass of green leafy vegetables smoothie. After half an hour any pulses dosa like moon dosa or besan dosa or mixed sprouts dosa etc. Following this has given me extremely good results. It's upto each one whether or not follow. I had bee thinking of writing about my experience since long but since l have seen most of the time people try to be negative. I don't want to be involved in all that. But only to benefit my fellow diabetics I chose to write this post. Keep bs levels under check. I was off medicines after about 20 to 25 days on this diet. In black tea can use stevia no sugar free. Search the net about stevia for your information. This to follow till GTT is cleared . Try and follow this since there's no harm. Check BSL frequently and kindly report your progress here for the benefit of our fellow diabetics. I also want to try long wheat diet but waiting till I get it. Don't get depressed as we can control our levels.

Respected sir , I have very high regards and honour for you due to your selfless service for all of us. Sir I have one doubt and there's no better person than such a knowledgeable person like you from whom I can request the clarification. Sir if a diabetic clears OGT test does it mean that the person is cured from diabetes ? Sir awaiting your reply. Thanks and God bless you with a healthy life.

Thank you for the pleasant reflections. You are praising me too much. Proverb says "too much of even amruth is poison"! Thank you for the good wish & prayer. Now, on the question:

With my very very limited awareness & experience the answer is "yes", provided

1.0 (S)he is taking usual/normal diet, which (s)he was taking before becoming Diabetic, for a week or two prior to OGTT.

2.0 (S)he is not taking any diabetic medication what-so-ever till drawing the blood sample.

If I remember anything more, shall add later :-) .

3.0 During 1.0 (S)he is not taking any diabetic medication what-so-ever.

Thank you Mr George I will go through your Advice.i am presently taking glynase 2.5mg in the morning and night.I am on LCHF DIET.No direct sugar. Results I have to see.

Meetu77 profile image
Meetu77 in reply tograj-123

LCHF diet is easy to follow once you ensure that

carbs -20% max

proteins ~20%

good fats - 60% minimum

Is the source of energy. This becomes easy when one starts looking at carbs/proteins/fat in meals. This can be checked on fatsecret.com or any other site.

It should be easy to go off the dose of glynase that you are taking. There are diabetics who have gone off a combination of glynase + pioz on switching to LCHF.

Respected sir,

I most humbly accept my ignorance & your knowledge. My acquaintance & knowledge about computer & software is neither up-to-date nor deep. It is all connected with the age old IBM 360 of previous century (of the 1970's). More over I would not have been as educated as you; had just a simple masters degree in mathematics.

Great people at various parts of the world have said at different times that " He who knows and knows that he knows is a wise man; follow him" ( xenodochy.org/ex/quotes/kno... ). So I am seriously considering the possibility of following you.

Thank you Sir for the information. I owe everything to your LWMDR.

When I was diagnosed with Diabetes, I had no clue about the disease as no one in my family or friends circle had the diabetes. My FBS was 140 and PPBS was 160 during diagnosis. The diagnosis came about before a mandatory pre-surgery testing in Jan 2015. My blood sugars were normal in 2013 and I did not test in 2014. Since I did not test in 2014, I missed detecting the creeping diabetes.

After the operation I lost 10 kilos in a month as I had a fibroid in the uterus and it tends to make you put on weight. Since the fibroid and uterus were removed I lost lot of weight. Due to the fibroid I had put of lot of weight on my stomach which is what caused the diabetes. I googled and came across your LWMDR and immediately started taking it. The result was lowering of blood sugar and stabilizing of my FBS between 90 to 97.

I have got so used to the LWMDR that I am taking it even now, as it tastes great with Kerala dishes. I also walk half an hour first thing in the morning, after lunch and evening around 6 pm after office.

My journey sill continues as I am 50 and want to make the quality of the rest of my life liveable.

Long Wheat has got different names in different parts of the countru.

In Hindi it is called JAUN .

Will you please confirm that JAUN in Hindi is the name of Wheat Grass or

not?

Please let me have your confirmation before I switch over to LONG WHEAT.

ShooterGeorge profile image
ShooterGeorge in reply toHondaetios

If the question is to me, I have never used Grass of Long Wheat. Hence I do not know whether JAUN in Hindi is the name of Wheat Grass or

not.

Yes "JAUN"is hindi for Wheat.

banku007 profile image
banku007 in reply tobanku007

Sorry Jaun in Hindi is not Wheat rather Barley. I just learnt myself on this page and would like to correct my earlier statement. Thanks.

Hondaetios in reply toShooterGeorge

Sir, I have read sometime back in this forum only that Long Wheat in Hindi is called JAUN and that was the reason I wanted

to ask if it is safe to take JAUN as the substitute of Long Wheat.

Anyway, I am taking Jaun about 80gms every day in the form

of Roti and Porridge.

Controlling diet and doing exercise and Yoga on regular basis.

With the grace of God,my Sugar reading remains 100 to 129

if I go for Random checking.Fasting comes to 115,102and PP

117.

Sir, it was a blessing in disguise for me that the detection of Sugar of 135 once about 4years back had made me a more disciplined human being.

In fact the Doctor had prescribed me the medicine

initially without even informing me that diabetes medicine he would be prescribing . I only came to know about this only when I visited another Doctor for a routine Cardiogram in 2012.

In case Mr. George or any one has any suggestions to make

please do not hesitate in coming forward to guide me.Shall be grateful if someone will confirm that JAUN is the Hindi Name of LONG WHEAT.
