Hba1c after Long Wheat Diet

Eddy201420142014 profile image

Dear All.

I started the Long Wheat diet on 18 Jan 2015, I checked my blood on 12 June 2015.

This is my latest Hba1c result: 5.2 (12 June 2015)

Last result was 4.9 (tested on 24 Oct 2014)

Is it good or not?

Eddy

Hba1c is not accurate test. 5-10% variation could be there. Ignore the reading if you are maintaining your BS levels.

It is good. If you are taking any tablets you can reduce the dosage and check.

I take Long Wheat as rice form as breakfast with meat and fish, then vegetables with fish or meat and wholemeal bread with cheese as lunch and also in rice form with fish and meat as dinner. All are in full stomach. Wholemeal bread with cheese as snack on atfernoon

No medicine and any treatment, just prohibited sugar

Hi Mx Eddy,

It can be good or not. Being good or not, as I understand, are comparative; hence depends on something else.

First I will tell why it can be not good (because what I have deciphered from your previous communications is that the answer you expect is "it is not good")

On 24 Oct 2014 your HbA1c was 4.9. You started the Long Wheat diet on 18 Jan 2015. You checked blood on 12 June 2015 & got Hba1c result: 5.2. This prima facia show increase of 0.3 in HbA1c & hence it is not good.

Now I will tell why it can be good.

On 24 Oct 2014 your HbA1c was 4.9. After this nearly three months (to be exact 12 weeks & two days) have elapsed when you started the Long Wheat diet on 18 Jan 2015. Most of us in this forum know that in three months a totally fresh/different HbA1c value will be available. It can be either less than or greater than or same 4.9. Consider the case of it being 5.3 or more on 18 Jan 2015, when you started the Long Wheat diet. You checked blood on 12 June 2015 & got Hba1c result: 5.2. This obviously show decrease of 0.1 or more in HbA1c & hence it is good.

Now there are some doubts.

1. When were you diagnosed diabetic?

2. Then how much were FBS, PPBS, HbA1c etc.

3. How was the HbA1c brought down to 4.9?

4. Were you diabetic or not when HbA1c was 4.9?

5. Are you diabetic when HbA1c is 5.2?

(It is to avoid doubts such as the one raised in this post, that the tests FBS, PPBS, HbA1C & SERUM-INSULIN/C-PEPTIDE are suggested before starting LWMDR.)

Now there are some doubts.

1. When were you diagnosed diabetic?

At this moment , my doctor never say I have diabetes, and doctor advise me to keep watching my blood sugar only (OGTT on 25 Oct 2014 , result : 1 hr (225), 2 Hrs (193)

2. Then how much were FBS, PPBS, HbA1c etc.

At 25 Oct 2014, FBS (92), HbA1c (4.9)

3. How was the HbA1c brought down to 4.9?

I tested my Hba1c on 22 Oct 2014, the reading was 4.9, but before more than a month (about 18 Sep 14), I kept on vomit after meal (may due to high pressure on work). I think it is the reason for the low reading (4.9) (not much food really digested in my body)

4. Were you diabetic or not when HbA1c was 4.9?

To be honest, I am also wondering on the abnormal OGTT (1 hr 225, 2 hrs 193) based on such low result of Hba1c (4.9)

5. Are you diabetic when HbA1c is 5.2?

I performed this Hba1c test on 12 Jun 2015 (result: 5.2), I have being normal diet with long wheat , vegetable, meat, fish, egg, bread, cheese for more than 5 months (started long wheat as main course on 18 Jan 2015). I just keep away from sugar and fruit only. All meals in full stomach.

Carbohydrate intake (daily): 110 gram raw long wheat, 2 slices of wholemeal bread (size per slices :6 inches x 4 inches), Rolled Oatmeal (50 grams) on late evening something.

"I do not feel that the PPBS numbers you reported {2 hours after dinner) - 77, and re-test after 3 mins, the reading was 72....Food content was: Long Wheat in rice form with lots of vegetable, meat and fish in very full stoach} are correct."

For your message commented above, I also wonder on such result, but the results: 77 and 72 were came from different blood sample from different fingers. And I checked my father s blood sugar immediately with my meter. His reading on my meter was as usual as his blood sugar (he has a seperate Bayer Blood Glucose Meter)

Also, I have checked my own meter with my doctor s meter in clinic. The difference was less than 2 mg/dL.

Food content: "Food content was: Long Wheat in rice form with lots of vegetable, meat and fish in very full stomach".

It is true as I want to understanding my real situation after full stomach. It is meaningless to "Eat less and Obtain a low blood sugar reading"

I have checked my blood lipid (12 Jun2015) , all result returned to ideal range and my mild "Fatty Liver" has been recovered (ultrasound scanning)

Updated my latest result

29 Jun 2015 - Dinner PPBS (1 hr 47 mins):119 , (1 hr 52 mins): 103, (2 hrs 9 mins): 89

1 July 2015 - 1st Breakfast ,I took my 1st breakfast on 8:30 am and checked my blood sugar on 9: 45 am (after 75 mins), as i have to go out.

PPBS (75 mins): 140.

1st breakfast food content: 55 grams (raw) long wheat in rice form with a piece of fish (size: 8 inches x 0.25 inches thick)

1 July 2015 - 2nd Breakfast, I took my 2nd breakfast with my kids on 11:13 am and checked my blood sugar on 1:13 pm ( 120 mins)

PPBS (about 120 mins): 72 (low reading again), so i tested again after 5 mins later (different finger), the reading was 80.

2nd breakfast food content: A piece of chicken steak with 2 egg white + 1 cup of lemon tea with no sugar

This is my story, sometimes, I really wonder my Blood sugar status:

Am I pre - diabetes?

Or

I failed my OGTT on 25 Oct 2014 (1 hr : 225, 2 hrs: 193) was due to Stress or anxiety at that moment ( I ate very little amount 3 days before the OGTT due to panic on diabetes, only ate few spoonful of rice with little meat and vegetable daily)

George, can you make some comment on my situation

Thanks

Eddy
