comment on select simple one touch blood glucose meter.
how much its reading are accurate
I am using "accu chek active" for home test. Every three months I verify its results with lab test. The figures are always matching.
I have experienced that the results given by touch glucose meter vary by 5-7 mg/dl from that of results given by lab test.
Select simple is one of the best meters available.
I use Accu-chek Active,which seems to be near perfect(99%)
Yes it is true that blood sample results are always dependable when done in lab as results show 40 to 45 calories less than glucometer results particularly one touch select sample which I bought of late a new one . I had been using one touch horizon for more than 6 years which was showing higher results and condemned now. I took test in fasting showed 170 in lab and at the same I took test from gluxometer which showed 214.
Yet another example of inaccurate reading experienced from one touch select simple gluco meter 3 days back.
I took reading at 2am night as I felt disturbed and sweating and to confirm that it is not due hypo but the reading showed 227 at that time. But when I took the reading at. 7 am in the morning it showed 237 ie after 5 hours without taking any food after 2am. Please note I am Taking insulin shot novo rapid 7 units at 8.30 pm and bosalag 14 units at 10 pm night which is long acting one as prescribed by diabetalogist. Now how to depend on gluxometer readings?
I agree it is false hypo and my blood pressure is very normal so sweating is not due to pressure also. But how reading is more without any food after 5 hours?
