One Touch from Johnson and Johnson and Accucheck are good brands. But none of the meters will always be accurate as lab. Some variation is expected with glucometers.
If you are regularly using glucometer then it is okay to check once in a month or two in the lab.
Best test which takes in all your variations under consideration is HBA1C....
Generally when we go for BGT machine... There will always be plus or minus variation.....
Whenever you go to lab for BG test... Get your Hba1c done.... That's the right tracking...
Please use Roche Accucheck Active or Accucheck Aviva. Aviva Strips costs Rs 22 per strip. Few Rs costly than active but more accurate and needs only a micro drop and uses capillary suction. Easy to use. Roche meters by far are the most accurate. I have both the meters
The difference in blood sugar readings at Lab & by Accuchek Active is, generally, 10%. The Active machine reading remains 10% more than the lab test.
One should also get checked his/her hemogram,total RBC, Hemoglobin,Iron deficiency,along Diabetes HbA1c,as to identify any shortcomings .All the test results should be co-related to know actual position of blood glucose for the last 2-3 months.
So far I am getting the following checked every months Blood Glucose F7 PP every 2 months HbA1C and my Lupid Profile , thanks for your suggestion I get Hemogram, Total RBC , Hemoglobin and Iron Defficecy Checked
What most doctors, and medical stores do not tell you, when they ask you to buy the Amron meter and test your B.P. at home, is how to use it.
01 You should record not one, but 3 readings, with an interval of 3-5 minutes between two readings;
02 You should test and record readings thus obtained, both in the morning and evenings;
03) You should take the average of three readings for each BP testing session;
04) Give a gap of about half an hour after drinking coffee or tea or one hour after eating breakfast/lunch;
05) The position of your hand and palms should be lower than the level of your heart, during taking the readings;
06) Check as above, once or twice a week, regularly;
07) Give a gap of 15-20 minutes after you do walking or any exercise or yoga, prior to taking the readings;
When you go for your next medical check up0, show the record of readings to your doctor, for him to come to right conclusion;
08) Digital read out meters are not accurate, like the old mercury based meters, but are convenient to use. Every doctor knows this, and in interpreting the readings, he also gives a discount to assess the readings and what they mean.
09) You should neither panic nor effect any change in medication on your own, based on the readings. Allow your doctor to do his job'
10) The gap between the inflating pad and your arm should be such as would allow your index finger to pass in between your shoulder and the pad.
