I am diabetic (65) for 13 years and taking lantus insulin and diamicron tablets. Recently I am experiencing acute discomfort due to bloating and flatulance. Shall appreciate if any of my fellow diabetics having similar problems could suggest remedies, if known.

You had better walk in the morning with empty stomach at least for half an hour daily. Avoid spicy food totally. You will get rid of your flatulance soon within a month.

I am diabetic since 17 yrs. facing same problem. As per my experience, avoid high protine, starch like Maida diet in the evening. Take raw onion as it is fiberous. Do not take heay meal, except that consume low intake four times. Do not habituate any medicine / alternative medicine, only if it is acute. You can use ENO like soda-by-carb some times.

What works for me is the simple "Vajrasan" post every meal, for 4-5 minutes. Please learn it from any yoga master. It's really easy and may take a few days of practice to get it right.
Flatulence is due to fermentation of undigested carbohydrate in your diet by microbes present in our body. Normally, a person emits gas on an average 17 times a day. If it is more than this please worry; otherwise it is normal. secondly to reduce the level of flatulence one should mince food well in mouth. By this you may avoid excess flatulence.
try to use aerofit, 10 minutes per day.best of luck.
Causative factors.
(1) Improper digestion and fermentation thereof.
(2) Bowel movement sluggish and not excreted fully. This results in gas formation & frequent emissions.
Remedial measures.
(1) Carbs should be digested. Please don't sleep after food. Have regular morning & evening walks. Reduce carbs and increase intake of leafy/green vegetables.
(2) Ensure bowels are evacuated fully. Design your own method. Spoon full of Divya Gashar churna (Pathanjali) in hot water in the mornings help. Also, Triphala churna/tablet can be tried.
Flatulence can be controlled and cured with the help of PRANAYAM.प्राणायाम

however all forms of pranayam are equally important.
Regular practice of pranayam helps in the elimination of waste materials from the body, which is normally carried out by digestive, respiratory and urinary systems and of course through skin.
DEAR SIR, I advise you to disconnect friendship with (VISIBLE FATS) usage of NV foods, oils, ghee, sugar and SALT and take white rece only cooked 100g rice with a puka and veg.juice and raw soaked dallas with a FRUIT AS BREAKFAST AND NIGHT 3 pulkas with raw-veg. adding lemon or its juice. Maintain timings for lunch 12 noon and dinner sharp by 7pm.

I have observed that it(Vajrasan) works for a few days and then the flatulence comes back again. I have asked the yoga gurus and the reply was that you continue this.
It is true that no shorttime is there for yoga. It has to be made a way of life but I have mentioned about my experience. Kapalbhatti with vajrasan is good.
