Has any seen benefits of running on either diabetes t2 or lowering medications?

I am T2 on metformin. Well controlled A1c of 6.4. I am also doing C25k with a hope of losing weight (need to lose 10-13 kgs) and reverse diabetes.

Anyone else doing running and seeing benefits?

I would appreciate if experiences are shared.

TIA

experts like BM.Hegde so not recommend running! walking, swimming, and yoga are the best exercises without side effect

Have you talked to your doctor before deciding to loose weight/change of diet/exercise routine? If the doctor has you on medication that can help loose weight/lower blood sugars, they may ask why the numbers are much lower than expected.

Thanks for advice. Docs usually advise diabetes patients to lose weight if they are overweight. Mine was no different. (I lost about 10 kgs, 13 more go). They also advice more physical activity.

My husband brought his HBA1C from 10.4 to 5.8 by running 6-7 km every morning for 2 months. He said it was difficult initially but soon he could do it easily. He brought his weight down from 92 kgs to 81 kgs.

I take my breakfast 9AM, lunch 12 noon and dinner before 7PM.

I make sure I give 14 hours between dinner and breakfast, I go for morning walk for 1 hour.

No food or drinks after 7PM, always looking out for free and hidden sugar in food and drinks.

Take care.

Sir,

I did not want to go on medication therefore diet and exercise.

My HbA1c has been going up as I age. I am unable to get an answer from my doctor on HbA1c number as we age as there is no data available. One expert asked me to do a fasting blood glucose test but because of UK, NHS protocol it is difficult to do, now days only HbA1c blood test is available and the blood is taken any time of the day during surgery hours. Last year I had to do eye test twice but this year it is OK.

Again foot check, the tuning folk test there was a problem, it is OK this year.

I wash my feed and dry it very well. Every morning I look at my toes to check for swelling. So far all OK.

It is imperative you have regular blood check, eye check and foot check.

Thanks. Good news we don't have NHS. Bad news we pay for everything. 3 years back, when I was diagnosed with diabetes my HBA1C was like 11. With medication it came down easily to 6.7 . With weight loss and exercise it is at 6.4. I have never tried to control without medication.

I want to get off medication dont know how.

Thanks again

Yes, you can set a target, get a small dish for food not plate!

Cut out all snacks. Just three quality small meals for few weeks till the numbers come down. According to the news paper report many people in UK have achieved to come off medication.

Controlling what goes in to the mouth.!!!!! + exercise.

If you Google "mail on line" UK news paper, diabetic food guide, this paper ran diet guidance for two weeks. This may help.

There are a lot of over ground green veg including green leaf, you can eat, boiled chick peas very good.

Boiled sweet potatoes are good, lots of fruits as well. Steamed rice base products are also good.

Google for Indian village cooking, language may be different but you get the idea for good healthy food.

Pumpkin and other veg in the similar family also good. you can make a lot of salad with colourful veg available in India.

Good luck, take care.
