1. FOOD SHOULD BE DISTRIBUTED INTO SMALL FREQUENT MEALS TO COMBAT HYPOGLYCEMIA & HYPERGLYCEMIA.
2.ALL CERELS, WHETHER IT IS RICE, WHEAT, RAGI,BAJRA,MAIZE & JOWAR ETC. CONTAIN ABOUT 70% OF STARCH. WHOLE GRAIN CEREALS SHOULD BE CONSUMED AND NOT REFINED MAIDA & MAIDA LIKE PRODUCTS.
3.PULSES & DALS ARE RICH IN PROTEIN. WHOLE GRAMS LIKE BENGAL GRAM, GREEN GRAM, RAJMA, HORSE GRAM ETC. & DALS SHOULD BE INCLUDED AS ADVISED BY YOUR DOCTOR.
4.VEGETABLES ARE RICH IN FIBRE, VITAMINS & MINERALS. RECOMMENDED ARE BEANS, BITTER GOURD, BOTTLE GOURD, RIDGE GOURD, ASH GOURD, SNAKE GOURD, CUCUMBER, TOMATO, ONION, RAW MANGO, CLUSTER BEANS, PLAINTAIN STEM, & FLOWER, BRINJAL, LADIES FINGER, RADISH, DRUM STICK, THONDEKAI, KNOL KHOL, COWPEA-POD, SEEMA BADANEKAI, BROAD BEANS, CAPCICUM, ALL GRRENY LEAFY VEG., CURRY LEAVES, CORIANDER LEAVES, CAULIFLOWER, CABBAGE, SPRING ONION & GREEN PEAS.
5.AVOID CARROT, BEETROOT, PUMPKIN & RAW BANANA ONCE IN A MONTH IN COMBINATION WITH VEGETABLES. ROOTS & TUBERS LIKE POTATO, SWEET POTATO, YAM, COLOCASIA, TAPIOCA, KHAMALU ETC. SHOULD BE AVOIDED.
6. EXCESSIVE CONSUMTION OF FATTY FOODS SHOULD BE AVOIDED. OIL PER PERSON 1/2 LITRE PER MONTH I.E. 3-4 TSP PER DAY. OLIVE OIL IS GOOD.
7. USE SKIMMED MILK & MILK PRODUCTS.
8.AVOID NON VEGETIRIAN FOOD.
9.ANY ONE FRUIT CAN BE TAKEN ONLY WHEN BLOOD SUGAR IS UNDER CONTROL (<200 MG/DL.I.E.HbA1C<7.8%). AVOID SEETAPHAL, MANGOES, JACK FRUIT, SAPOTA & FRUIT JUICES.
