What are the exercises which are common for a diabetic person whic must be done in any case and for how many duration

P.K.Goyal

Vichoo_Pennathur profile image
Vichoo_Pennathur in reply topkg6457

Dear Goyal,

It would be better, if you go to a near by Park from your house and walk swiftly preferably alone. You should walk briskly for 6-8 Km per day. By doing so you will be burning more calories in your body, which is a greatest plus point for diabetic patient. The duration may be for 1/2 an hour to 1 hour, depending on how much your health permits. .

walking must give you Positive result. I am confident.

Wish you all the best,

Regards

smartman profile image
smartman in reply tochandshivendra

Minimum 30 min. morning and 30 minutes evening can work well.If P.P. level is higher, then some walk after food is recommended apart from diet control and medicine.Medicine is most important which is given least priority on this Forum

Vichoo_Pennathur profile image
Vichoo_Pennathur in reply tochandshivendra

Dear Chandshivendra,

It is preferably early in the morning between4-6 A.M. Preferably choose near by park and please try to be alone while walking.. Early morning gossip in the park while walking jointly is not advisable. So pl keep tips in mind You will definitely get relief.

Better practice some yogasan and pranayam along with brisk walk

tusosa profile image
tusosa in reply tocsjhawar

Yes . I agree. In fact i would say most important is Yog i.e Asanas & Pranayam. If you do only this much then there is no need to do others.

I used o lot of excecises , Asana , Walking everything alternateively i.e per week at least three days Excercises + walking Or Asanas + wealking etc from age 20 till 55 . But still Unfortunately could not avoid Piles , Cerv Spondalytis ,Deodanal Alcers , Diabetes , B.P etc etc Because i was doing all BUT NOT YOG > i.e . Pranayam mainly , because i was told Pranayam is like playing with Tiger and must not be done without proper Guru or else insead of riding on tiger it kill one who tries to rtide on it .

........And NOW from age 55 till 63 i.e last 8 years since i have been doing only Yog i.e Pranayam 45 min + Asanas + SuraNamskar10 to 15 min + 5 Min Dhyan + Shavasan total about 1hr 30 min ....Daily 1.5 hours,, All my diseases incl Diabetes + Piles <+ B.P etc etc all disappeared , without any allopath medicine or any doctor .

So Yog ( Mainly Pranayam ) is the key to health , because all our life all activities as well as Diseases are ,as our Breathing pattern is .

If Breathing Pattern is not like what it was when you were Young or disease Free , i.e If it is defective , or Unbalance you have disease . Doing Yog Or Pranayam is nothing But normalising our breathing pattern to normalise the Body + Mind .

Thanks a lot for your positive attitude towards yogasan. Please note what yogasan and pranayam actually are and what is the concept behind yogsan. Pranayam means cleaning your inside body by air pressure as vacuum cleaner. Secondly it enlarges our breathing span starting from mind to Nabhi (belly button) which has been blocked being un-used. Thirdly, it absorbs oxygen from clean air and spread to body parts particularly our mind. Finally, it absorbs PRAN-YAU which is a spiritual aspect not presently being accepted by the material science.

Yogasan is nothing but a combo of aerobic exercises, pranayam and dhyan when added together, works as a miracle like an equation or like a mathematical formula. It stretches our whole body-parts, make it elastic, added with dhyan-adopts the supernatural powers and added with pranayam- stimulates our different hormonal glands and activates them.

It is said that pranayam is just like a tiger is wrong. You just need to grasp the whole concept, then you will automatically realize that it is being practicing in right direction for which, initially, you need an expert to help you the right posture and right way of breathing, thereafter, it is too easy. Further, it has no side-effect if anything goes wrong although it will not work as required. For further clarification, feel free calling me- cs Kamal Jhawar

Read Dr Bernstein"s book Diabetes solution. He has explain in details all the benefits which you have mentioned above and he has also what precaution one should take and what sorts of exercise diabetes patients can do. If your diabetes for more than 10 years what medical check-up one should go before starting exercise and always consult your Physician about it.

in reply tosudh

I agree on the absolute necessity for diabetics to read Dr. Bernstein. However, as regards consulting your quack, I remain sceptical :-) Of course, by some chance, if you have a genuine doctor who keeps up with the latest developments, then definitely do consult him/her regularly.

A 30-40 minutes walking in the morning.

30-40 minutes of yoga, like pranayama, kapalbharati.

drining 4 glass of water (room temparature) without washing the mouth in the morning.

I am doing this since 15 years, and at the age of 60, even after eating occasionally sweets, my blood sugar is under control. I am diabetic since 22 years.

Dear kunabalasingam,

Brisk walking preferably early in the morning between 4-6 is advisable. You can go for 6-8 km preferably alone. No chatting or gossiping in between with anybody. You will achieve the required result.

True, regular exercise, diet and medicine are important for diabetic control... However, in my opinion and experience, diet control comes foremost in keeping sugar levels within normal limits, then comes regular exercise for at least an hour daily (say about 4-5 kms of walk daily) and then comes medicine. For a borderline diabetic, diet control and exercise alone will do... and can keep control WITHOUT MEDICINES!

Dear Friends,I m 62,Diabetic since last 10 years.Operated for CABG 5 years back.On single dose of Glimestar M-1 and brisk 5-6 km walking each morning had my BG well under control till 4 months back.Unfortunately since last 4 months developed knee joint pain forcing me to stop walking now a days disturbing PP-BG levels upwards beyond 200.Would highly oblige to receive an advice for a good option against walking. Then walking was a pleasure which I missed a lot.
