You have to control your diabetes to contain the problem of neuropathy. The doctor may prescribe medication if neuropathy is noticed.Consult your doctor.

Metformin (generic name) Glyciphage (brand name) is used alone or with other medications, including insulin, to treat type 2 diabetes (condition in which the body does not use insulin normally and, therefore, cannot control the amount of sugar in the blood). Metformin is in a class of drugs called biguanides. Metformin helps to control the amount of glucose (sugar) in your blood. It decreases the amount of glucose you absorb from your food and the amount of glucose made by your liver. Metformin also increases your body's response to insulin, a natural substance that controls the amount of glucose in the blood.

Tazloch (brand name): This product contains two medications, telmisartan and hydrochlorothiazide.(generic name).

Telmisartan is used alone or in combination with other medications to treat high blood pressure. Telmisartan is also used to decrease the chance of heart attack, stroke, or death in people 55 years of age or older who are at high risk for cardiovascular disease. Telmisartan is in a class of medications called angiotensin II receptor antagonists. It works by blocking the action of certain natural substances that tighten the blood vessels, allowing the blood to flow more smoothly and the heart to pump more efficiently.

Hydrochlorothiazide, a 'water pill,' is used to treat high blood pressure and fluid retention caused by various conditions, including heart disease. It causes the kidneys to get rid of unneeded water and salt from the body into the urine.

One of the main advantage of CILNIDIPINE is it REDUCES THE INCIDENCE OF PEDAL EDEMA UNLIKE AMLODIPINE

L-type calcium channel blocker (Amlodipine) dilates the only arterioles & not the venules, hence blood pressure increases in the capillary bed and are thought to cause leg edema.

CILNIDIPINE due to its blocking action at N-type calcium channel dilates both arteriole & venules as a result the pressure in the capillary bed is reduces. The accumulated fluid in the tissues flows back to veins & thus Cilnidipine minimizes the incidence of pedal edema.

It is very important to keep your blood sugar in a healthy range. Doing so may prevent nerve damage or make symptoms less severe.

You should learn the basic steps for managing your diabetes, avoiding its complications, and staying as healthy as possible. These steps will include diet, exercise, and sometimes medicines.

You need to check your blood sugar regularly. Your doctor will help you by taking blood tests and other tests.

A number of medications may be used to reduce painful symptoms in the feet, legs, and arms:--

Pregabalin (Lyrica) (often the first treatment used)

Pregabalin is used to relieve neuropathic pain (pain from damaged nerves) that can occur in your arms, hands, fingers, legs, feet, or toes if you have diabetes or in the area of your rash if you have had shingles (a painful rash that occurs after infection with herpes zoster). It is also used to treat fibromyalgia (a long-lasting condition that may cause pain, muscle stiffness and tenderness, tiredness, and difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep). Pregabalin is used with other medications to treat certain types of seizures in people with epilepsy. Pregabalin is in a class of medications called anticonvulsants. It works by decreasing the number of pain signals that are sent out by damaged nerves in the body.

If yours is diabetic neuropathy treating it may not do any good unless you treat your diabetes properly.

TAKING MEDICINES ALONE WILL NOT BRING DOWN BLOOD SUGAR ALWAYS. YOU HAVE TO CHANGE YOUR FOOD HABITS & LIFE STYLE ALSO TEMPORARILY TILL CURE.

The text below is a "COPY&PASTE STUFF" from my previous replies to some others.

IF YOU HAVE ALREADY SEEN IT, KINDLY IGNORE THIS.

Diabetes is a fundamental disorder. It is comparable with low voltage in an electric circuit. In both cases all connected subsystems will under-perform and will fail in due course. It will affect sex life also, if diab is not contained. Diab impairs the glucose (SUGAR) & oxygen supply to ALL CELLS of the patient. You cannot compensate the resultant weakness with liquor, food or medicines.

A DIABETESE PATIENT (also known as A DIABETIC) need NOT starve. PROPER or APPROPRIATE food can be eaten EVEN FULL STOMACH THRICE DAILY! Try to understand diabetes & conquer it.

I was diabetic from 2006; but NOT diabetic from 2009. I studied Diabetes thoroughly, because it was to solve MY problem.

Do you want to see my experience and blood sugar history from 2006 to 2013? Those are reported at: appropedia.org/Diabetes_mel... If you want only MODUS OPERANDI, GO TO appropedia.org/Diabetes_mel...

VICTOZA inj and the latest INVOKANA tab once daily are cutting edge treatments for diabetes. Regular workouts and diet of every thing in moderation is a must.

DPN or diabetic peripherial neuropathy has no known cure. You can hope to arrest any further degeneration of small fibre nerves by taking massive doses of Vit B1, B6 and B12 with Alpha lipoic acid. Brand name MATILDA AF is used by me.

VICTOZA was promoted by Paula Deen after taking lot of money for endorsing. This drug causes cancer.
