If you are type 1 diabetes, no other go except to take insulin at recommended doses. If you are type 2, you will be directed by your doctor to tablets, when you show signs of improvements in your diabetes profile.

In 15 years the insulin producing capacity of the pancreas would have deteriorated completely. Hen the doctors would have prescribed insulin to keep diabetes under control. This has to be followed without any change.

I fully agree with Paul2204. Why are you concerned if she is on human insulin for past 15 years. Insulin is certainly better with no or minimal side effects than medicines.Please also understand no matter what one says I believe one has to plan and maintain a good and healthy life style and pay attention to this subject more rather than thinking alternatives.Once a diabetic you will ever remain a diabetic just concentrate that it remains stable and within control

Your mother needs to walk a lot This will automatically help secretion of insulin from our pancreas. Even I was on insulin Now I am on tablet Avoid sugary fruits and sweets
