Urolithin A protects dopaminergic neurons in experimental models of Parkinson's disease by promoting mitochondrial biogenesis through the SIRT1/PGC-1α signaling pathway
Just gotta say it: tons of stuff protects dopaminergic neurons in nonhuman models...but it fails to work in the human brain. Our brains are unique. We are the Only species who have vulnerable dopaminergic neurons with neuromelanin.
The other part of the problem is most studies pretreat with the test substance and then apply the toxicant. In the case of actual Parkinson's the toxic exposure is long gone and the damage already done.
