Do Antibiotics make your symptoms worse?

I’m currently on antibiotics again, minor gum surgery....ugh! My meds don’t seem to be working as well as usual. Anyone else feel this way when on antibiotics? Any suggestions too for helping my stomach after or during the antibiotics. I know they are the worst thing for the microbiome. Just probiotics?

Kombucha works well in restoring flora.

Thank you, I like kombucha I’ll have to get some!

When you already have a perturbed gut biome as is typical for PWPs, anything that further exacerbates that perturbed microbiome is not going to end with good results. Synbiotics and most fermented food products would be useful to be taken well away from the antibiotics to help maintain a better gut environment.

What are symbiotics Art? Is that the same as probiotics? Thank you

in reply to ConnieD

Yes, synbiotics are probiotics that already have a prebiotic in the mix with it. The prebiotic helps the probiotic and works in the gut to help produce butyrate by the prebiotic interacting with the probiotic bacteria.

Funny thing is, for some folks antibiotics make PD symptoms go away. I don't think anyone knows exactly why. Read this if you are interested: scienceofparkinsons.com/?s=...

Take a probiotic a few hours after the antibiotic then for a few weeks once you have finished the course. Make sure there are bifido and lacto bacteria in it in high concentrations. This is the one our naturapath prescribed.

You should take probiotics either with the antibiotics or after you finish the antibiotic course. Our digestive system and gut is made from healthy, good bacteria which are necessary to support digestion, healthy gut and a strong immune system. The antibiotics, though fights bad bacteria which cause infections, also kills these good bacteria This is why probiotics are important. They are good bacteria that support gut health, digestion and even help to fight infections and bad bacteria.

Try looking into probiotic supplements. I would recommend Flourish Probiotics by Eu Natural. This is a natural probiotic supplement made from a combination of healthy, good bacteria. Check it out :)

BTW: Yogurts, kefir, Kombucha, fermented milk are also some good sources of probiotics. However, for a more immediate relief, I would recommend probiotic supplements.

Remember me? And yes, I had a terrible time with my meds not working whenever sick or on antibiotics. BTW, I’m seriously considering DBS.
