Has anyone else had their PD rapidly deteriorate during or following a bout of flu?I'm diagnosed 9 years and just coming out of an horrendous 4week flu (with antibiotics)
Until then I was fairly mobile and 2x Sinemet plus 100 25 was lasting 2-3 hours.
Now I'm getting an hour, feel horrendous and contemplating a residential care home 😕
Trying to get hold of my neuro...
My only thought is that antibiotics wipe out good gut flora, which affects everything else. Maybe try increasing your intake of probiotics (foods and possibly supplements) to try to reestablish a healthy microbiome.uclahealth.org/news/article...
Hi Seamus. I have had the same experience. I had a bout of flu in January that incapacitated me entirely . The good news though is that it was only temporary. I hope it will be the same for you.
I’ve had covid 3 times and used Paxlovid for a quick er recovery. I have noticed my meds aren’t as effective when I’m ill and taking an another med.
I take 1 c/l 25/100 4 times with 200 mg 4 times Entacapone every four hours.
The flu is a viral infection, not a bacterial one. Why were you taking antibiotics?
Because my GP suspected a Strep throat infection, he was right.
That sounds awful -- simultaneous viral (flu) and bacterial (strep) infections, no wonder your PD symptoms deteriorated. The stress on your system must have been extreme. With any luck they will return to normal levels when your body has fought off the infections. Hang in there!
it seems that anything that can adversely affect my body like vaccines,antibiotics, surgery etc. Will send my pd symptoms into a tizzy.
After covid my voice became raspy. I continue to feel congested and in general feel more PD symptomatic.
I think there’s a connection between the respiratory system and PD. Maybe that’s is why they had some encouraging results using a cough and mucus thinner named Ambroxol to treat PD. I have not been able to find it in USA but I understand is available in Germany and the UK. Maybe is sold here under a different name
no, Ambroxol is not sold here, but if you do a search, you will find pharmacies in France and Germany that you could order it from. I have definitely noticed my PD symptoms get worse when I’m not feeling well. I agree with the others though, I bounced back after recovery.
Is it the meds or the PD?
How do you know when to go to emergency when PD symptoms are beyond erratic? 
Poor sleep leading to increased symptoms
