Hi,I became unwell about 2.5 years ago and after a year was diagnosed with Crohn's.
I've been on biological injections for my Crohn's for the last 18 months and according to my consultant after a couple of colonoscopies/capsule it is being well managed.
He said I also have IBS.
My question is since I have been unwell one of my symptoms is I when going to bed is that I find it very uncomfortable sleeping on my sides. A MRI showed nothing and to touch the area (between hip and bottom of rib cage) isn't tender to touch. The pain is alot worse when lying on my LHS the pain on the RHS (between hip and bottom of rib cage) is very uncomfortable and I can only manage a couple of minutes. When lying on my RHS the pain on the LHS isn't as bad and if I fall asleep quickly usually is ok.
GP couldn't really come up with anything.
Just wondered if anyone has experienced this before ?
Thank you.

Sorry i can’t really help based on my own experience. Does if feel like a muscle pain or a pain in your bones? Is it every time you lay down or just sometimes? If you are constipated or have a lot of gas you can get pains in your side but it isn’t usually just when you are laying on your side. My Crohns was in my terminal ileum which is on the right side between the hip and ribs and it was tender to touch but not painful in the way you are describing it.
Thanks for the reply. My Crohn's is also in my terminal ileum. It feels more muscular and is every time I lay down. There are times when worse but haven't really noticed particularly if it worsens when constipated so will monitor that !
I’ve had some similar pain years ago with my Crohn’s. My GP suggested trying gentle heat pads, (didn’t really work for me) pillows under my legs, a small soft pillow under my ribs and a course of magnesium. That helped a lot and one day the pain just went. It is a bit of a palaver getting padded up for bed and if like me you turn more than a rotisserie chicken during the night, then some readjustment will be necessary.
