Abdominal pain and haemorrhoids

I’m not sure if I’m in the right place as I haven’t even been diagnosed with anything but my mind is going into over drive and wanted some advice. I’ve been experiencing abdominal pain on/off since early November. It’s only on my right side and goes into my pelvic area, hip and back even up to my ribs. I was seen at A&E where blood tests, urine tests and abdominal and pelvic ultrasounds came back clear. They ruled out kidney stones and appendicitis. I have also been experiencing bleeding when I pass stools but there are definite lumps underneath so my GP has prescribed an ointment to help reduce the size of the haemorrhoid(s). I don’t know where else to go- GP keeps dismissing it.

There is a lab test to help diagnose colitis called faecal calprotecton. It's a common test these days and is done on a poo sample. Maybe ask your gp again.

Hi yellow dancing,

If your piles have actually come out of your anus, then I would say you need to act immediately just by really simply pushing them back in, i.e. every time you poo, which is when they tend to always come out, once you've finished wiping, have a square of kitchen towel (I use “Plenty”) ready, fold it in 4, put it under the cold tap, then squeeze the water out, then simply press it against the haemorrhoids using your fingertips to apply the pressure, doesn't need to be too hard, just keep a constant pressure, they will instantly start shrinking, although you won't notice, or believe that they are, as the fluid is gently, gradually forced out of them. You can release and move it around a bit as you feel necessary to try and keep an even pressure on all the swollen haemorrhoids, but you will soon get used to doing it. Then, all of a sudden after only about one to three minutes ‘ish, maybe a bit longer, you will realise that they quite suddenly become much, much less swollen, keep pushing, and adjusting the pad slightly as you feel necessary, and they will gently go completely back inside your anus! It truly feels like a miracle when they go back in, you feel SO relieved!, and COMPLETELY back to normal. NEVER, in my humble (yet sadly, very experienced!) opinion, put Preparation H, Anusol, etc, etc, or any of these creams on external haemorrhoids and imagine that will be any use whatsoever in getting them to go back inside your anus, you need to act IMMEDIATELY, and gently push them back in as above. Putting a cream on is, I believe not only utterly pointless, but will leave them outside, stretching and therefore damaging/further weakening them, making them more likely to come out again. The absolute key is, which I was never told, is to always do the above AS SOON AS YOU POSSIBLY CAN AFTER THEY HAVE COME OUT, to minimise the damage caused by leaving them being stretched outside the anus. Very occasionally I find one difficult to get back in, try repeatedly squeezing your sphincter muscles as you push it back in, or just put a bit of KY Jelly or Preparation H or similar on the pile area purely to lubricate it a bit, and that makes it slide back in really easily. Can't believe doctors seriously recommend applying any kind of cream without stressing the above unbelievably simple, yet TOTALLY effective procedure first which gets all your haemorrhoids back in pretty much instantly - did your doctor even mention this?? - this needs to be the first thing they say to people, I can't believe this is still not the standard method doctors tell people about, it just seems insane to me this totally painless and 100% effective procedure is not even mentioned, just madness!
