Hi does this seem correct for ulcerative colitis. I had a private prescription from the consultant switched to nhs because it was so much cheaper and this is what it’s come out as? That seems a lot? Also it takes to take for 2 months but I’ve only been given a 100 tablets?

There is a limit on most prescriptions of one month supply. As Pentasa is based on weight of patient, you must weigh approximately 120kg (approximately 19 stones). I would check the dose with your pharmacist to confirm it is correct.

I think you will need a repeat prescription.i take 6×800mg a day when flaring with prednislone. Now I have finished my steroids I take a maintenance dose of Messalazine which is 3x800mg. Everyone is different and it's generally children that dose is associated with there weight I weigh 65kgs. Go back to GP when coming to the end of packed for a repeat prescription

All sounds good to me. But make sure you go back to GP in time so you don't run out and go days without continuity is important good luck and I hope it all kicks into remission for you

I take Asacol and my script is for 800 mg per day. So, assuming that Pentasa is pretty much the same thing, I would say your dosage is correct. If I have another flare (did I say "if"? Maybe I should have said 'when'!) I have to increase the dosage.

No stay positive and keep the if instead of when. 😊
