What I find a problem is that if I have a very bad flair up (pain, blood loss etc) by the one it takes to see my consultant the flair up is calming down. I sometimes think they don’t realise how bad/ill you feel.

I dont like moaning about this but sometimes it gets you down. In September I had a really bad attack and my appointment to see the consultant is next February😢

Moan over 🙂

Your GP should initially help if you have a flare and aren't able to treat it yourself, do you have an ibd nurse at the hospital to call for advice ?

When I have a flare I increase my meds and if that doesn't work within a week I either see my GP and/or email my Consultant who will see me immediately if he thinks it's necessary, sounds like you need to talk to your Consultant and come up with a plan of action for when you are flaring.
