Colitis

I was diagnosed with Colitis in 1996 at the age of 17. I think my Colitis has been pretty mild. No surgeries!! I’ve only had one colonoscopy at the age of 17! Unfortunately because my colonoscopy was done so many years ago I don’t even know what type of Colitis I have. My mom doesn’t even remember 😩 I’ve only had 5 flare ups throughout the 20 years since I’ve been diagnosed. The last time I had a flare up was back in July of 2018. I’m having another mild flare up since March of this year. I’m having flat stool in pieces with blood, sometimes mushy or most mornings When I go to the bathroom I only have blood or mucus. I don’t smoke and I don’t drink alcohol. Now I have changed my diet a little bit I don’t drink soda whatsoever Just water and juice. My bowel movement are maybe three or four times a day. My appetite is pretty normal I haven’t lost any weight, I work full time and the Colitis doesn’t stop me from doing my daily routines... I went to the doctor 3 weeks ago because not only I have Colitis but I was discharging from my right breast. I didn’t mention the doctor about the Colitis but they did Blood work and my CBC blood work came out normal!!! My Hemoglobin is normal I’m NOT anemic!! Does anyone know what can I do to manage the flare up??? Im planning on going to the GI doctor. I just want to take care of one thing at a time.

Haven't you had any monitoring visits to your GI doc since you were diagnosed at 17? Have you had meds at any point? If you are passing blood and mucus, I think it would be wise to visit the doc soon and maybe have another scope or stool sample to check for inflammation and get some treatment soon. I realise you are in the US. Do you have to pay for your health care?
