Naturopath 1st Visit

I went to see a Naturopath Doctor today for the first time. I had an hour and a half long appt. I don't know a lot about this branch of care but I definitely prefer the natural route, then more pharmaceuticals. This is a new learning experience for me. She took time to fully explain what she does.

My main reason for seeing a Naturopath was because of my fatigue. The only thing that helped was steroids, and really I want to avoid dependence on them, as they have so many bad side effects.

My Gastroentrologist and my Rheumatologist both do not know for sure, whether it's the disease of Crohn's or RA or the biologic drug Enbrel that is the cause of my extreme fatigue. I'm inclined to think it's mostly from Crohns which is uncontrolled at this time while they figure things out, and possibly partly the Enbrel, makes sense that a compromised immune system will make you feel drained.

I'm started on a new Probiotic. I used to take Align brand, but that only has one type of bacterium that only works on one part of the gut. The new probiotics I have need to be kept refrigerated and have several bacterium that work on the whole digestive system.

I'm also started on an easily digestible Tumeric. Thought being that active inflammation is causing my fatigue. Adrenal glands are working overtime always in flight or fight trying to calm chronic inflammation, they get tired and have nothing left to give.

So I'm going to try these for a month and see if I have any improvement. I will post again if I have any noticeable results.

Hello,

I find that turmeric helps to relieve my joint pain, if I'm consistent with it. I notice the difference if I skip a few days. I'm also taking a probiotic that has to be refrigerated and it has been very helpful to reduce bloating.

A take an adaptogen that helps with stamina. If I could only stick to a good diet I think I'd feel a lot better. It's hard!

I really hope it all works out for you. The steroids are great for energy and to reduce inflammation in an acute situation but they've caused me to have glaucoma in one eye and it's terrible!

Good luck!

Make sure to stay hydrated.

So glad to hear the tumeric helps. I will make sure I'm consistent, I'm to take 2 in the am and one in the pm with my Probiotic

My sisters father in law is dying of prostrate cancer, it matastisized and gone into spine and he having chemotherapy just to prolong life, he takes the Tumeric ( Cucuminatrix) too for inflammation in his spine and he says it really makes a difference. I don't notice anything yet, but I just started. It's worth a try at least. I'm glad to know it is helping people

Funny you mention about your eyes because thats one of the major reasons I stopped steroids, I started having vision changes and I couldn't focus to see, and they burned like someone put acid in them.

I'm sorry your dealing with Glaucoma too, that's terrible. Exfoliation Glaucoma runs in my family and cortico-steroid use is an environmental trigger. I agree steroids help, a lot, but the side effects are pretty devastating.

I take Turmeric and have done since my after my bowel perforated. It's one of the things I found might help with my Crohn's. Just be aware that a side effect to it is it thins your blood so your blood takes longer to clot!! My dentist actually asked me if I was on blood thinners a couple of weeks ago. Everything we take has some side effect or another!! The fatigue😫The Bain of my life, definitely the Crohn's I would say!!! Hope things get better soon 🤗
