Undiagnosed- help please.

Hi. I'm in real need for some advice and help.

I wondered what people's opinion was on what's been happening recently. I had a colonoscopy last July, after months of begging the doctors to do some tests. By that point the flare up had subsided, and my colonoscopy was normal.

I am having an even worse flare up of those symptoms. I have been loosing a lot of blood when going to poo, terrible pain after eating - the pain is so bad it reduces me to tears, I'm hardly eating due to pain and loss of appetite, extreme nausea, diarrhea. I've also been very dizzy and lightheaded and shaky.

After seeing the emergency GP last week, she said it sounds like a flare up of Crohn's disease or Ulcerative Colitis. (She said this after rectal examination, and examination of my stomach.)

I was wondering what people's opinions were. On what it sounds like. And also, what can I do to help the pain? The pain is beyond manageable. I honestly don't know what to do or how to cope.

From a very scared 20 year old.

I apologise if this comes to you twice -as I can't see that my reply was submitted. Definitely get a second opinion - and ask your gp to check your bloods as you may need to get an iron infusion if this has been going on for a while. I was diagnosed early ( after 3 months ) but didn't get the symptoms under control for a year after that - and a friend of mine didn't get diagnosed for over a year and this was after several hospital visits. Good luck . Also if your second opinion fails - persist! Go to another dr until you get a diagnosis!!!!

Hi hun. get your GP for a test called faecal calprotectin. This stool sample will show if there is any inflammation in the bowel. Have you had recent blood tests? including bloods for inflammatory markers x
