Trying out indoor running! (with filthy trousers...)

I last ran on Thursday – this was a ‘tempo’ run (e.g 5km (ish) at a brisk pace, aiming at under 30 mins) but I’d decided it would be more fun now the weather has improved somewhat to run off road. Except it rained ALOT on Thursday in Essex so my off road run was more an on-bog run and I slipped and slide all over the shop resulting in a hard run of 4.3km in 28 minutes - and very muddy trainers and trousers and slightly sore ankle from my recovering injury!

So I didn’t run this weekend to allow my self to recover. Sort of. Because instead of resting I wore huge high heels on Saturday at a party, traipsed round the Natural History Museum and Hyde park for 3 hours on Sunday in ‘mid heels’, more partying on Sunday Night at a wedding in Camden and then 3 more hours at the V&A and Hyde park again yesterday. At which point my ‘mid heels’ decided that I was taking the mick as they are not designed to walk for 6 hours and fell apart. and my ankle still hurts...

So tonight I am in a hotel staying away for work, and I decided I would be good and use this opportunity to use a treadmill for intervals. (theory being slightly sore ankle will be less aggravated by the smooth surface of a treadmill) So up to hotel room to get stuff ready… brought less muddy trainers with me but unfortunately I forgot that trousers were muddy and clearly I’m far too busy gallivanting around town to be washing stuff so have to go into gym with muddy trousers. (feel sort of proud anyway – I’m a real runner not like you gym woosies!) No one to help me work out the treadmill but managed to set it on a programme that was 15 minutes and had some gradient/speed variations and slogged it out for (well slogged for14 really then had to stop as shoe lace undone but reset it and did 5 minutes walk after wards)

Then as I felt I should make the most of the ‘facilities’ I used the pool too (had shower first so no sweat slick following me!) I was quite proud of my measly 10 lengths (15 metre pool maybe?) as I can’t really swim very well, and haven’t been anymore water than a bath for a year or so, but running had made breathing/swimming a bit easier! Now recovering in room before dinner! (salad anyone?)

Thanks for reading – hope you guys all have had a good day too.

What an active lady! And courageous too, not to get hung up about the less-filthy trousers.

Well done and rest that ankle. :-)

Great post and love that you are fitting in the serious partying and the running. I am also one of the indoor crowd, but in my house and not the gym, not sure this make me a woosie or not?
