I started this journey in my jeggins like trousers, thinking 'I'm not spending money on clothes until I prove to myself ill stick to it' my husband obviously noticed this and on valentines day very kindly brought me some tracksuit bottoms and t-shirts..... (Men's!!!! anyone can make this mistake, right?) not saying a word I left out the door, my better half seeing they are rather big and baggy in places decided to 'surprise ' me with MORE fab running gear for my birthday today!!!!
He and my three wonderful children came into the bedroom thismorning holding an item each, first was a BRIGHT pink hooded 'thick' jacket, second a slightly different shade of PINK sleeveless hoodie, and lastly the best of all a pair of P-I-N-K 3/4 capri leggings.
In 15 years of marriage and 17 together I have never worn pink, I'm blond n pale oh god!!!
Seriously I looked like something out of ' big fat gypsy wedding' I just needed 'babe' written across my backside, I really don't want to hurt his feelings as he never just goes out and buys me anything (not without me ordering/buying myself) but these really do have to go back.
W7R1 went ok btw, R2 should have been tonight but as its my bday (and I didn't want to go out in the above) I don't know xx

Oh dear, I feel for you. My hubby never buys me clothes, but the one occasion he bought something (I've forgotten what it was) he got it totally wrong. Poor dear! Like you, I had to go and change it and think of an excuse as to why, so as to not hurt his feelings.
Souki ... i love it, Fantastic Men try so hard, so you have to love them for it ...at least i only got the arm holder for my ipod for Valentines day, which at the time seemed bad enough but now love it.
Embrace (nearly spelt embarrass!) the new pink running you ... and at least you will never get run down when crossing roads! Hope you had a lovely birthday and maybe you can find the receipts later ... or save it and enter race for life
Happy Birthday ... Feel in the pink all day! Awwwww yes, I know the family has tried it's best and all for love and support of you. Could you possibly wear the pieces separately? Eg good ole comfy jeggings and floppy pink top? (Capri pants might work on a beach later in the year?). Otherwise I reckon you'll just have to come clean and say that they are the wrong sizes and when you(!) go to change them, you may find that pink and some of the styles aren't available in your real size! Nudge, nudge, wink wink On the positive side, your skin will soon tone to a less pale colour ... once the sun starts shining! You can run happily in the weeks ahead, knowing the 'gang' is encouraging you... as are loads on here... Have a brilliant day. Linda
Dusky pink I can just about manage; bright pink never. So, yes, they are the wrong size. So sad but hey, sizing is difficult to get right, it varies so much according to the cut and manufacturer.
Oh dear, happy birthday, but sounds like a lot of pink!
Funnily enough I wear a pink mens cycling top to run in (over a vest and under another long sleeve top at the moment while it's so cold!) but would not choose anything bright pink normally, and it would clash awfully with my beetroot/radish face as I run!!!
I think a subtle need to change because of the size/thickness would be ok...
Ha, ha, happy birthday! Why do men find it so hard to buy us clothes (and why don't they think of giving us vouchers?!?) For my birthday (last year!) I got an as yet unfulfilled IOU. For Valentines day I got an apology!! I was feeling pretty miffed, but now I can see the bright side
Pink isn't for me either, and I've been stunned at how much women's running gear is the dreaded fuscia/puce/etc etc Maybe they found it hard to get stuff in any other colour too?
I agree with other posters - make an excuse about the fit/style/thickness and ask if they'd mind if you changed them for the right ones next time you're at the shops.
Thank you everyone for the kind birthday wishes, he did come home last night and cook me a lovely meal, I think I will be exchanging a couple of items for 'black' though.
That's the idea! Can't bear the thought of people I know driving past and seeing me... That time of the morning usually just a few tractors and lorries.
I love my pink running gear!!! The brighter the better! I have a bright pink jacket for night time running - no excuse for not seeing me! I have pink tops, black tops with pink on them, pink somewhere in my shoes, pink gilet, pink beanie, pink buff BUT........even I draw the line at pink capris!!!!
A lovely thought but yes, if pink is not your thing then some excuse is needed to change them - good luck with that!!
Sue
ps FYI, the word BABE does not appear on any of my pink stuff, just in case you were wondering!!! No glittery sparkly stuff either...... doesnt quite suit a 50 year old
pps Dont worry, I NEVER wear all pink together; hints of it only at the one time!
