Week 4 has flown by! Last night was run 3 of week 4 and in 30 degree (celsius) heat I shuffled my way through it. Taking some of the advice that I have seen on here I waited until it was later in the evening, ate a banana before heading out, stuck to the shady side of the street and carried some water with me which really helped during the walking parts.
The last half of the last 5 minutes was tough as I think the heat radiating off my face was competing with the setting sun...but I pushed through and told my brain to shut up with it's constant winging about being tired and wanting to stop. I am impressed with my endurance- the biggest thing I worry about on every run is not being able to catch my breath but it seems that my lungs are doing just fine. I can't believe that I have completed week 4 and can run for 5 minutes straight!
Absolutely terrified for week 5...going to do it anyway :).

If you can run in that heat I can't complain about being too hot on the treadmill, you are a couple of runs ahead of me so you are my inspiration!! Keep blogging (and running) and hopefully we will get through to week 9. My aim is to complete a parkrun by the end of the year.
Have you finished week 4 yet? I've the last run either tonight on the treadmill or tomorrow morning outside - I've read on here it's best to mix the two if possible. Week 5 is looming....
Yeah I have - I just finished week 5 run 2 tonight. I've only been running on the pavement around my area. I found it hard on my joints to begin with but now I don't notice any pain (luckily). I don't have a treadmill but I can see how having a constant flat run would be nice (my streets are up and down). Good luck for your last week 4 and see you in week 5
Blimey LWC, if you can cope with that heat you'll do just fine. Used to live in Australia and there's no way I could imagine myself running in the heat. But yeah, early a.m. or later and preferably under ground lol. I remember feeling terrified about W5 and now I'm suddenly looking at 7/3. Not sure how I got here as I think back to W4 and how nervous I felt about facing W5. Good luck, you'll manage - Sara
Thanks for that! Yes- I am not looking forward to the hot summer that seems to be looming.
I am a little freaked about the W5/R3 but others on here seem to have the similar experience of the fear being worse that the actual run. Good luck with the last of week 7 and thanks for the encouragement!
LWC - don't listen ahead. Many of us come to each new run with no idea what Laura has in store. That way no chance for negative fear thoughts that try to undermine us. Instead i treat it like opening a surprise present that i know will be good for me :-)! All the best, Sara x
