I am using the C25k+ podcasts but wondered what people are using as a bridge to 10k? I assume there is not one done by Laura yet?
Bridge to 10k: I am using the C25k+ podcasts but... - Couch to 5K
Bridge to 10k
I've just started using Suz's 5k to 10k running podcasts from iTunes. It's got the same 5 minute warm-up/cool-down walk and is more interval based rather than a straightforward "run a bit further this week". So far, so good, although it is a little strange to be walking again when I go out running!
The music is very 90s RnB (think Mary J Blige, Boyz II Men, etc.) which I find a really good tempo to run to.
BUT, and it is a big but, it also contains a bit of 90s rap (not necessarily my cup of tea) and let's just say that there is a lot of potty mouth language going on!! If you're easily offended then something else might be more appropriate Thankfully no-one could hear what I was listening to when I was running yesterday.
There is no Laura hand-holding going on, just a straightforward, no-messing, voice telling you when to walk and when to run. I'm going to stick with it for a bit and see how it goes as I was really starting to lose my way with running not having a plan to follow.
Thanks for the response, I must admit I was a bit put off by her web address. I might wait and see if anyone else has some recommendations. Good luck with your progress!
I've downloaded the bluefinapps bridge to 10 K. I haven't used it yet as I'm trying the C25K+ podcasts first. Its intervals and you can find the programme here: blog.bluefinapps.com/about-...
I'm about to start this one. I'm going to jump in at week three and allow myself an extra week 6 and 7.
I'm using the Samantha Murphy podcasts available through this blog post:
Thanks all, i'll check out the links posted.
I'm using the Samantha Murphy podcasts too. Enjoying the music.
Hi - I used Suz too but couldn't get on with the walking at all. Instead of walking I did a jog instead of a walk and used the principle of fast/slow fartlec running when the tempo in the music changed. I downloaded FitFaqs 10K training plan and tended to use a 5 min warm up walk then do a combination of Suz's music, Laura's Speed podcast. I wish Laura would do a bridge to 10K I miss her reminders about posture and her encouragement.
I have inquired, but the response was they didn't know what I wanted, so have written back more specifically for a download follow on from k5-k10.
I managed to achieve 10k with the Samantha Murphy podcast and still use it every now and then it's my comfort blanket
