Blenheim 10k...me??? YES thanks to C25k

Finished the Blenheim 10k this am. Would not even have contemplate a 1k run last year! Started c25k at the end of April breathless after 1min running...and look at me now! Still waiting for official chip time but my timing is 1hr10min. Slow but not bad for my first ever running race! I have not even done a Parkrun yet as I've been scared I might not finish or come last! Silly I know. For everyone out there on c25k keep going, the rewards are awesome and I do not mean the medals/T -shirts!! Thank so much to c25k and this inspiring forum. xx

Congratulations. How did you progress from 5 k to 10k?

Thanks. My progression was a bit random despite good intentions! Used mainly the app 'Ease into 10k' intervals. I did c25k almost exclusively on the treadmill but actually found that once I started running outside that it was easier, more enjoyable, I ran further and faster! Wish I did that earlier in Summer! I use Runkeeper to track distance and it's quite inspirational to see your progress over weeks. And treated myself to 'Now that's what I call running' for upbeat musical company. I did actually walk little bits today at the hilly parts and a horrible muddy grass bit where I was scared I might slip and fall flat on my face! So my next goal is to run all of it and break 60mins...

That's a fab time, well done :)

Give park run a go...doesn't matter where you finish...I know as I finish at the back.

Thanks AliB1. Will def give Parkrun a go now. My 5k split was 32mins and that included 3 hilly bits. My local Parkrun is flat :-)).

What an absolutely fantastic achievement, you must be so pleased.

I second the Parkrun, dead friendly and all abilities :-)

Congratulations on completing a 10K in a brilliant time.

I'll be dead chuffed if I can manage a 10K in 70 minutes when I do one.
