Tomorrow is hopefully going to be the start of my C25K journey! If my friend is free, and I've got everything done we're going to do it together I'm a bit scared about trying it on my own though so I need some motivation to get me put the house just in case she can't make it!! Any ideas? And wish me luck!
Motivation needed!!: Tomorrow is hopefully going... - Couch to 5K
Motivation needed!!
It is daunting, but it's doable. Focus on why you are doing it and believe in yourself, even if it feels like it's too big a challenge. These guys know what they are doing, they never push us beyond what's possible. Most of the time I run on my own and would like a buddy but it's not always possible, but I am running because I want to lose weight and feel better in myself. I'm doing it for me, and so if that means it's just me dragging myself round the park then so be it. I've just done week 5 and feel amazing. I ran for 20 minutes non stop and loved it. You will too even if there are days when you find it hard or don't fancy doing it. Stick with it, it works and you'll soon be fighting me for the tag runEXfattyrun
Good luck starting!
Like chusan51 said, focusing on why you are doing it is key. It does involve a lot of willpower to get yourself out the door at first, afterall, no one will force you to if you really don't want to. It sounds like you want to do this, so organise a time of day to do it, make sure you are prepared and have everything else you need to do done and go for it!
I can see how having a friend do it with you can be really motivating and make the process more enjoyable but I love running on my own and know that if I had a friend who cancelled at the last minute or couldn't make it, I would've been less likely to go out there myself.
I am on week 9 already (the time really does go in fast) and I adore running! I feel fitter, healthier and have so much self confidence because I am achieving goals and targets with running 3 times per week. I think the motivation and enjoyment will come with time, but you might just need to give yourself a stern talking to to get yourself out the door the first time.
It can be scary starting something new and unknown but the sense of achievement you get from getting up off the couch and out running is really worth it
Let us know how you get on!
Go for it runfattyrun, i was you back when I started (and I took more than 9 weeks), and I am now here on the 5k+ plan
You are about to take the hardest step, which is getting out there. Once you do, you will be surprised at what you can achieve, and feel so good about yourself. Take it slow if you like, I did (I started in April and graduated last week).
Go on, surprise yourself. You won't regret it.
I did my first run earlier this week on my own and was surprised how much I enjoyed it. Run 3 (of week 1) for me tomorrow - I'll be thinking of you and I hope you get the same sense of satisfaction as I do. It is so encouraging to know that other people are just starting on this program too and lovely to hear from those who've completed it.
Thanks a lot everyone! I think I'll definately try and get out there, but if not tomorrow, certainly sometime this week. Thanks for the support!!!
runfattyrun, You can do it!!!! WELCOME!!! You need to change your user name to runhottierun!
