Well last time I tried to run for the bus I missed it because I was wearing heels, guess C25K doesn't solve that problem! :D

It may be that running for the bus requires sprinting where as C25K is more a steady pace? You could try adding some sprints into your runs like interval training or do some hill work to increase your fitness. Do you do any other exercise apart from running? It does take a while to build up fitness so don't worry too much :)

Yes, I swim twice a week, cycle twice, run 4 times including doing sprint and intervals. I'm not massively unfit, could try harder I guess. I'm going to put the bus thing down to the stress involved in trying to get the bus I think I hold my breath when sprinting for the bus too which can't help

Wow you sound like you must be fit! I'm not sure then, maybe you're just flustered having to run for the bus. Usually the drivers see you running and drive off anyway!

Duh! do you mean to tell me this running doesn't mean I'll catch my bus when I'm next running late, that was the reason I took up running in the first place :) Just take off your 6" heels Moosele and shout "Hoy, yes you bus driver man/women wait up I'm coming" It may work for you but it doesn't in Aberdeen as Rose885 has already said.

Also if you are carrying anything.. heavy handbag, backpack etc this will slow you down and make you feel significantly less fit than you are!

Good question. I thought much the same thing when I was running in the hope of catching my son who I thought had gone striding off across the moor and would get lost. I had closed toe active sandals on so it shouldn't have been that bad but my usual backpack on plus a bottle of water in it and I couldn't keep it up - and I was trying to go at my usual pace knowing that I couldn't yet see him so a sprint wasn't appropriate. (Turned out he'd done something else completely)

I have not, unfortunately, found that the gains from doing C25K have yet spilled over very obviously or securely into any other part of my life - if anything I am having to do less in order to be able to keep running, although I am rationalising that I am reducing the risk of potential health problems even if it isn't working for my actual health problem!
