How do you keep motivated after Graduation?

I've done 2 runs since graduating and only managed 20 mins on each before just giving up. I don't want to lose what I've gained on c25k

Did you give up because you were really unable to do it or because the gremlins won? I did my second post-grad run today on the treadmill, and although I made it to 30 mins I had to fight the gremlins all the way. I was /so/ tempted to give up, but as I'd already had 2 days off since my last run, I didn't dare. I guess you just need to give yourself some sort of goal, whether it's signing up for a 5K race, doing parkrun, going further, faster or just aiming to keep doing 30 mins three times a week. Maybe mix up your route(s) a bit and go somewhere new (maybe even with a h*ll or two to start tackling)? I'm planning to do quite a few different things now I've graduated (I posted some yesterday when someone asked) to keep it fresh and interesting.

Unfortunately the gremlins won :-/ I guess since I won every time on the C25K they had to win at some point. I did 2 runs today... I was quite disheartened this afternoon so I went out again this evening determined to do run for 30 mins without giving up. I did my route back to front (the 'hills' (slight inclines) are in different places that way and it helped a little.

Perhaps I tired myself out on Sunday running for 40 mins, also I think it takes about 15-20 mins to properly warm up and get my rhythm so if I don't break the wall to that time it's just a slog the whole way, also it was hot on Monday.

Hope that this is my 'blip' over and done with - I shouldn't be disappointed really 20mins is so much better than being a slob on the sofa!

Two runs in a day? Well done. :) I know how you feel about needing to run again after a disappointing earlier run. I've done it once and felt quite chuffed afterwards, although the second run was tiring. Someone said that the book they were reading said it's good to run twice in a day from time to time, so that's something else to be pleased with. :)

Moosele,

Maybe you need a new challenge. Try the C25K+ podcasts? Or the B210K ones (available off Andystev's page).

No going back to the sofa - hear?

I listened to the c25k+ podcasts and they terified me I can't run like that! I Did make the 30mins this week so I'm feeling a bit less bad about things now and slightly less like an imposter. i will try the + podcasts eventually but at the moment I'm just happy with being able to complete the 30 mins

thanks for your words CaroleC ...no couch here :-D
