Hiya, I am really pleased that I completed a continuous run of 30 mins and covered 2 miles in that time. It may seem a rubbish time to many of you guys, but I am dead chuffed. Plan to finish programme this weekend and going to buy myself some running underwear as a prize.

The plan isto run for 30 minutes. You have achieved that so well done for that. Enjoy the glory. You can work on the speed afterwards. I am just behind you on W8. I can run for 30 minutes now but i am not running 5 k either. I am not too bothered as I will savour the fact that 9 weeks ago. i couldnt do that. dont beat yourself up about the distance, it will come in time. keep running

Not rubbish at all, or else I'm headed for the garbage bin, too. That's my pace. I just did the first run of Week 9 yesterday and figure I'm at about 2 miles, since my 28-minute run on Sunday measured out at 1.97 miles. Good for us. :)

P.S. What is running underwear? I'm thinking of getting myself a new sports bra. (TMI?) That would be a nice reward.

Yeh..didn't want to put a sports bra - but that is what I am talking about - going to Bravissimo

Oh my gosh, I love your shyness about saying bra on the internet. ;-) I felt the same.

Bravissimo rocks! A new BH (the german which seems literally stands for bosom holder) from there sounds like it's name, it carries the weight of them for you!!

Wonder if it helps your running?

I'm also intrigued to know what running underwear is? :o)

Well done on the 30 minutes. We must run at a similar speed, I am concentrating on running time rather than distance at the moment. I can't wait to be able to say I've done it like you.

Sports underwear is a sports bra...but would love some knickers too that soak up the sweat if they are made! - How elegant!

Well done, Lane, that's great. Don't worry about the distance, I'm just about the same. Laura says it's time, not distance. When you think that in week 1 running for 60 seconds was such a killer it's phenomenal progress.

That's brilliant, well done !!!

I am on week 2, and i managed to run for no more than 3 minutes at a time last night, so you are doing really well by my present standards, so very well done!

Well done! I still don't cover a great distance but for me it's never been about speed or distance but running for 30 minutes. I have no interest in competing with myself to go further or faster, just to continue to run 3 times a week for a healthy lifestyle. Everyone has different goals and aims and whatever is you personal goal is up to you. You have achieved so much over the last couple of months so give yourself a MASSIVE pat on the back! X

Excellent news! I'm a newbie, so it is good to see that the coursework is achievable. Well done, and keep on running.....

I started out today with enthusiasm, only to find that Poole Park, my destination for my first run, was shut! Never mind-plan b, onto Rockley Park, which is beside the sea. This was so meant to be for me. I have asthma and the sea air always helps me with my exercise (walking only, so far). I started off my ipod on week one . Completed the brisk 5m walk and the first 60second run, then it switched itself to week 9-whoaaaa there! I reset it again, and started at the beginning. Walk then 1st run-switched to week 5! Realised that the reason was that the face of the ipod was facing my body. Reset and off I went. I completed the week one walk run, and no, I was not tempted to skip the last 2 runs because I had already done the set number. I looked like a waddling duck by my last run, but hey I did it! Met other seasoned runners on the way, who smiled and waved. I suddenly realised, I am a runner too! Went home feeling great-breathing better, and by the final run the time seemed to go much more quickly. Went home to breakfast of mixed fresh fruit and Greek Yoghurt with a cup of coffee (I normally drink tea, so why the change?), then a lovely shower. Boy do I feel good about myself today. The reason? You guys yesterday emailing me and making me feel positive about tacking this, and taking away the negative "I can't do this" feelings.

Thank you so much!

Excellent news, well done, you must be chuffed :-)

Thanks everyone for the encouragement and keen interest in my underwear too!

I assure you, Lane, our interest in your underwear is of the most wholesome nature. :) I agree with you about the knickers. Surely they must make some out of the magic wicking fabric. Or maybe I should trade up from my cotton-blend running shorts to ones made of a better fabric.

Lane profile image
Lane in reply toLu25k

Or maybe we should just go commando (using a phrase I don't understand but believe it to be pantless)!

Surely someone must make wicking underwear, and if not, why not?! The market would be huge, so to speak. ;) Maybe those running knickers you can get (like some of the athletes wear) are wicking and would work under running shorts/trousers? Probably cost a fortune though.

Well done Lane and more info on sports bras please - H&M ones are rubbish unless you are flat chested.

Definately not for me then!

Re sports bras - I got a great one from debenhams, expensive (about £38) but worth it as there is no movement at all (only prob was when it was brand new I needed a bit of help getting it done up, I can just about manage on my own now!)

Legion profile image

I couldn't do this without my trusty Shock Absorber (brand name). ;)

There's a great blog on the subject called 'Everyone buy a sports bra NOW' dated 25 July by kayface, which is very entertaining!

Will have to do a search to hear all about that blog then - thanks. Wonder where Laura get's hers from

Well done. I did the same according to strava. It was my best pace as well. Ready for the next one over the weekend, in between the rugby.
