Can anyone tell me how you are all measuring the distance you are doing?
I use mapmyrun.com - free and easy! But you have to remember where you went
I've downloaded a free app for my phone called endomondo. It track's you using GPS and shows you your route, the distance you've covered, time you've been running and your pace. The version I have is free and does everything I need but there is a pro version that you have to pay for which does a few extra things.
Hope that helps :o)
Thanks sinope82 I tried mapmyrun.com but it does not let me route into the park I go. Will look for this as it is my phone I have the podcast on.
I like this one too, as you can click the 'don't follow' button and (roughly) track your distance across parks and footpaths.
I use Walk, Jog, Run. It's also useful to see other peoples runs in your area
I use walkjogrun.net as well. I like see where other people in my area run too. Good for inspiration when you need a new route.
Meant to say the advantage with this is you don't need to bring your phone or use an app. Just go on the website at home before or after your run.
Another vote for endomondo. Absolutely love it and use it for tracking walking and cycling as well. Love the social side of it as it inspires you to get out more when you see all your friends getting out. There is also a great facility to give 'peptalks' to friends. A friend of mine was out running yesterday and I could see that she was 'currently' out. So I typed a peptalk message to her 'keep going, you're doing great' and the app read it out to her while she was running. She said it was very motivating
I treated myself to an early graduation present in week 8, a Garmin Forerunner 410, it is fantastic, i'd tried using my phone, but prefer not to carry anything, so at least this is just like a sllightly bigger watch.
geodistance.com works, but is a bit fiddly to use.
I use the runkeeper app on my phone and it works great, I also use a garmin forerunner to get my heart rate, but I'm a bit of a gadget freak
I use the free version of the runstar app on my phone.
It shows:
- the distance on a map with the timing every KM/mile
- a graph with the speed and elevation of the terrain
- records all my run so I can see how brilliantly I do! Cough cough!
- total time ran per month/ per year
- average speed during all runs
- total distance ran
You can set-up goals and it also connect to your music library!
There are plenty of other options on the full version at (£3.74) but I don't think I need all this gizmo!
I'm using a rather convoluted set up. I use GPSTracker on my android phone to follow me, then it automagically uploads that to my PC using Dropbox and finally I analyse the results using "My Tour Book" on the PC.
I know, I did say it was convoluted although having set this up all I do is open the PC program to look at the analysis. When I graduate (long time off) I intend to simplify life with a Garmin which others have recommended.
