Just received a special newsletter from ParkRun and thought you may want to join in this once in a lifetime event. What a shame our C25K T Shirts won't be ready in time to wear it on the day!! See below:-

If you only do one parkrun this summer*, make sure it’s Saturday 18th August – on the first weekend between the Olympics Closing Ceremony and the start of the Paralympics.

That’s when we’re teaming up with Join In Local Sport to help create the UK’s biggest ever celebration of local sport.

Join In aims to bring the huge enthusiasm for sport from London 2012 back to every community in the UK. It’s a once in a lifetime celebration of everyone who helps to make an Olympian – from the coaches to the tea ladies, the competitors to the volunteers and supporters. Find out more at joininuk.org

There are already 5,000 special events happening between 13th to the 28th August at sports clubs and community groups, but parkrun will be kicking off the Join In Weekend in style with a Super Saturday.

Make sure you apply for your Barcode soon as they may well get rather busy nearer the 18th. All the best for tomorrow's graduation run. :)

Go for it Anniemurph, you will enjoy the whole experience I promise. Go into your local Parkrun and check out the route before you go to do it. Most of them are quite flat but some areas its just improssible, you don't want to get any nasty surprise steep hills thrown in. Don't forget to apply for your Barcode and take a printed one with you when you go to run. Good luck for your graduation.

Tempting but it's the day before our 40th wedding anniversary (big family 'do') and Mrs OldNed might have something to say about me disappearing for a Park Run. And if I've learnt anything in 40 years.....!
