Run 3 times a week only or every other day?

Hi everyone. Just a quick question. Do you run every other day and then take two days off till the next week starts or do you just run every other day so in fact you're running, say for instance all three runs of week one Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday and then beginning of week 2 on Saturday? Thanks.

You can do either really, it just depends on what works for you and how much spare time you have in a week! I think most people just starting out running tend to include a two-day break every week, but some do just power through and keep doing every other day right from the start.

Personally I normally aim to run every other day, but I'm pretty relaxed about taking the odd two-day break here and there.

Thanks for your quick reply. I think I will try every other day but will take your relaxed approach re a two day break here or there. Congrats on graudating - I'm only on week 4 but really enjoying the challenge.

To try and set a routine I try and run Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays which then mean's I get the weekends free. Of course there are times when there have been slightly longer breaks i.e. when I went on holiday for 5 days but that doesn't affect the fitness level too much and so I've found I can come back to the programme where I left off.

Hi Hayley, Thanks for your reply. Interesting that you can take time off and it doesn't affect your fitness. I had to have a two week break due to catching a virus and have only just gone back to running this week. Had to repeat the last two runs of week 3 but am now ready to start week four and looking forward to it - never thought I'd hear myself say something like that - it's an amazing programme.

It is really good. I never thought i would actuall look forward to going out for a run. I even get up early and make time for a run before work if im going to be too busy in the evening !!! I haven't had longer than 5 days off. I'm sure I would have to repeat runs if I had two weeks off, but thats not a bad thing. Just think how hard 60 seconds was a few weeks ago.
