Just about to start week 4 of couch to 5k but its just occurred to me that I think I'm a week early. I've been doing a run every other day as it says to leave a days rest in between. Today, after actually listening, she says 3 times a week.
When this has come up before, lots of people seem to set specific 'running days', just because it suited them to plan which days they'd be running, but quite a few just alternate, so some weeks have 4 runs, and some have 3. I did the latter, and it suited me fine. I did take an extra days rest once or twice I think, when it was snowy.
Aah yes, that kind of makes sense now! Set running days could work in my best interests.
I've just started my first week and have gone out Sat, Mon and going tomorrow (Weds) will I be ok to go Sat again to start week 2 and have Thur & Fri as rest days?
Or should you go Sat, Mon, Wed, Fri, Sun, Tue etc,,,,,,
There are no set rules as to what you should or shouldnt do. Having 2 days rest is absolutely fine but try and keep to a minimum of 3 runs a week if you can though plenty here have run less each week and taken a little longer to finish but still got through to graduation.
At the end of the day its what suits you and fits into your life and even more importantly, you are off the couch!!!
I think either is fine. It just depends whether it's easier for you to stick to having specific days of the week where you run. Since the week has an odd number of days you'll never run the same day two weeks in a row if you run every other day.
